I am coming to St. John over Easter. Does anyone know if there are area's that are good for beach/surf fishing. I will be staying in the Fish Bay area?

Thanks,

john

John,

First off, get a map from the National Parks booth as you get off the ferry in Cruz Bay. You can then compare it to this to give you an idea of where you are on the island.

Practically any beach on the island will have fish. More so if it is near the rocks and within the National Park. However, fishing in Park waters is only allowed via the use of hook and line. No nets. Also, being that it is Park waters, catch and release only.

Mary's Creek is a good spot for fly fishing as it has some flats and bonefish are present.

One of the adventurous ways to go would be to rent a kayak and fish off of it or use it to access one of the many isolated beaches on St.John for great fishing. If you do find a beach on non-park waters, you will be able to put something on the grill in your villa that night.

Forgot to mention, some of the guys at the park office where you get the map can also point you to specific locations..... if the right one happens to be there when you pick up a map. Email me if you have any questions.

Tight lines and good luck!
