We will be visiting St Thomas(cruise) at the beginning of July- my husband, myself, daughter-11, and her friend-11. I am looking for a great beach bar for my hubby to sit in the shade, have a drink, and relax...
I would like for daughter and friend to have a great beach for sand castles and swimming and maybe something for them to play on
and for myself- a lounge and a nice beachy DRINK!!
We will be coming from the cruise dock- need taxi price if you know!!!
Would you suggest Coki, Megans Bay, Hull Bay, Morningstar, Sapphire, or Secret Harbor??

Hi Julie,

Every beach you list will give you those options. IMO, Hull has the beach bar farthest from the beach. Magens has the longest beach. Secret Harbour has the calmest waters. Morningstar is closest to the cruise dock. Coki and SH have the best snorkeling. Sapphire, Magens and Coki will have the most kids on them. Any one would be a good choice. My personal preference if you only have one day would be either Magens or Secret Harbour.

Julie based on what you described, family, kids, maybe some water toys, drinks, food... I'd agree with Schultz on Magens Bay for all of the things you mentioned - they have kayaks the kids might like and they have floats which the kids would probally like playing on, water is calm, sand nice, palm trees and drinks available. 🙂 Next choice would be Sapphire or Secret Harbor... Secret Harbor is nice an quiet they have a floating raft out in the water but the sand is a bit pebbly which is a down point for me - LOL but its a great beach all the same - has some snorkeling on the right as well you guys might enjoy. Coki is often very busy - not quite as layed back as the others in my opionion, great for snorkeling. Morningstar is alright - the water gets a bit rough as it is not as protected a beach as say Magens Bay is and the sand is pebbly, but its great for having drinks by the beach, lots of sand for the kids. Hull Bay will be very quiet, wouldn't be my first choice.

Let us know what you decide and how your day in St. Thomas was when you return 🙂 🙂

Just noticed the taxi rate request - yes they are on this site.

You might want to look at

https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/cruiseship/index.php

page 3 of that section has taxi rates to popular spots and it includes the link to the full listings for taxis.

Well- it looks like Megans Bay it is!!! My hubby really wants a great beach bar for him to relax at in the shade and be near us on the beach- I will let you guys know what we did and how we enjoyed it when we get back- we will be there on July 2, 2003.

Great choice Julie.... The chairs and floats you rent in the boutique and pick up outside. The kayaks and little boats are at the right side of the beach (right side if you facing the water)... Beach bar is close to the boutique right in the middle of the beach - there are beach wait staff too so your husband could sit with you guys and the order the drinks :-), if they are taking to long then he can walk over and get something.
