Hello All...
As things are being finalized for our big day in February I'm wondering if you all might be able to help in finding the "perfect" beach location for our wedding.
There is just the two of us. We have transportation, we are planning on a late afternoon wedding. We prefer something elegant with not a lot of tourist activity (snack bars, watersport activity, etc.) we are thinking rustic with character and charm. We are staying on the east end of St. John (Coral Bay) and aren't particular in having to travel but would rather not go into Cruz Bay.
Does anyone have a good suggestion? Any and all recommendations are welcome as we've never been.
Thanks to all who respond.
Jill
Jill...we were married last month in STJ. We chose Trunk Bay at sunset. It was spectacular. There were still a few tourist hangin around on the middle of the beach but walked down almost to the end of the beach on the right hand side. Our backdrop for all our picutres was the beautiful blue/green water and the little cay in the middle of the bay. Let me know if there is any other info you need. We also stayed over in Coral Bay...loved it!
I would love to hear more about your stay in Coral Bay. I would also love if you could forward some pictures of the bay in which you got married... I'd love to view them prior to making some decisions. Did you have a photographer at your wedding if so would you recommend them? Who performed your ceremony? I would love to hear about your wedding. you can e-mail me personally if you'd like.
Thanks, Jill
Jill....we just got our wedding pix back and have not scanned them. At the top of this page there is a link for "St John". On the drop down menu click "Beaches". The first pic is Truck Bay. YOu can find many more pix by doing a Yahoo Image Search. We had
Rev. Emmanuel Jaggernauth perform our service. We highly recommend him. Here's a link to his info....

Coral Bay is really nice and very quiet compared to Cruz Bay. We had a wonderful time on that side of the island. It is only about 25 minutes if you want to go back to Cruz Bay for shopping and some night life.
Our photographer was a friend of my wife. She and her husband came down for the weekend and they doubled as our witnesses. I'll try to email you this weekend with some more detail. Let me know if you have anymore questions.
A couple of years ago my wife and I were walking down the beach in Maui, and a couple was getting married. It was really cool EXCEPT that the bride was dressed in a typical huge white wedding dress, and it WAS a beach on an OCEAN, and there WAS a nice ocean breeze, and the bride looked like a clipper ship under full sail! I'm no fashion expert, but I'd add the prevailing winds into your "equation". And congratulations on your marriage!
Jill, I was married in St. Thomas last June and had Blue Glass Photography take my pictures. The pics turned out very good and the scenery was beautiful. We were married at Grand Beach Palace before they closed down and had our pictures taken up the beach, with the islands in the back ground. If this company is still in business, I highly recommend them.
Happy wedding and happy life together!
How about Maho Bay? What a beautiful place...soft white sand, mountains on either side, beautiful crystal blue water. If it's just the two of you, parking is no problem. In your wedding finery you won't want to trek far to reach the beach (as you would have to at Trunk or Cinnamon) and parking for Maho is as close as 50 feet from the beach (or less!) I never found a beach on STJ that I didn't like. But Maho was the most accessible, the most quiet and the most beautiful that we saw while we were there.
Maho is beautiful but it's very close to the road. I imagine everyone who drives by while you are getting married will be beeping their horns. Something to keep in mind! Trunck has paved paths all the way from the lot to the beach and up and down the length of the beach.
I agree with InLoveWithSt. John, Maho beach is NOT where you want to go for a private wedding ceremony.
The traffic is very close to the beach and you will hear any trucks that rumble by, and if a car passes with a loud stereo, you will hear that too.
Also, the bugs are really bad on Maho right before sunset.
I would recommend Trunk Bay Beach or Hawksnest for the ceremony.
Good Luck,
Stacy
