No waterfalls that I know except at the Marriott which is man made and is the processed sewage runoff. Thus the lovely foam at the bottom. I always giggle to myself when I see brides having their picture taken in front of that fall.

Hello Colin,

St. John is known for its beaches & hiking... but not for waterfalls. There is a small waterfall at the Petroglyphs off the Reef Bay Trail that has water flowing during rainy months.

Check out the beach guides on this site, at the top of this page click on the island(s) you are visiting and then select Beaches from the drop down. Lots to choose from.

Enjoy!

Get yourself a good guide book. Our favorites are "STJ: Off the Beaten Track" and "Feet, Fins & 4WD". There are so many beaches....all are good. The further you get from Cruz Bay the fewer people you'll have to share the beach with.

"STJ: Off the Beaten Track" has a good section on the Fish Bay and Battery guts and a 70 foot waterfall there. These depend totally on rain and if you're there in a dry period, there'll be nothing. We still haven't gone looking for them. They're still on our list of things to do, which remains sizeable despite numerous trips.

There's a waterfall near Fish Bay. Could you please tell me more? We will be staying in Fish Bay. Would love the info. Thanks in advance!

In order for the waterfalls to "flow" here you would not be happy - it takes torrential downpours - something vacationers tend to not want to happen while on "island time" 🙂

Beach tips, get a neat sheet, I saw a family sized one at Toys R Us which I plan on getting for just the 2 of us. Also the pop-up floats are supposed to be great. We have a wheeled cooler with straps for backpacking which came in handy, and we used it as a carry-on. My favorite of all the beaches is Magens, go early in the AM and I think their pizza and Bushwackers are the best on the island.

I have a couple of bags that fold up real small, one I got on StJohn at Mongoose and the others at a shop at Havensight mall, I can't think of the stores names but the brand of the bags is "baggallini" water proof, beautiful colors and they launder really well. I have the beach bag, a back pack and their cell phone case, look for them in the nicer stores.

We keep frozen bottles of water to take to the beach or anywhere else, and have an insulated carrier with a long strap to carry them in. Hope this helps!
