Hi All -

While we were at Gibney beach - I saw a beach sheet/cover made of parachute material (sort of like a Neat Sheet), and we saw one in a store in Cruz Bay (can't remember which one). I realy liked the design of this. I forgot the name of this product - does anyone know what they are called?

(I did a Goggle search, but came up empty...)

Did you try googling parachut fabric? It brought up some interesting sites.

It's called a Parasheet.

Thanks - that was it (Parasheet) - it looks as if it has advantages over the NeatSheet (lighter weight and pockets for sand to hold sheet in place) - just bought one - ready for our next tropical venture (Maui in Dec, and then STJ next June... can't wait)

Thanks again.

This is why the forum is great! Can you purchase this in a sporting goods store, or only on line?

But for the price (almost $30), the Neat Sheet looks like a better deal.

I saw it in a store in Cruz Bay, but don't recall the price. On-line - its ~$33 with shipping (Amazon, eBay)

I agree - $33 is expensive - and we like the NeatSheet, but the light-weight and compactness is nice for us who travel many miles (from SFO). The idea of being able to hold down the sheet using the pockets with sand/rocks is nice - reviews on-line say the lightness is a problem with wind - and the thiness of the material offers less protection from the sand.

But - I don't think that this will be a problem with soft sand beaches on STJ - plus we bring towels with us from our condo which we lay over the NeatSheet anyway. So it is all good - heck we spend way more than $33 on drinks/appetizers at Woody's even during Happy Hour (lol).

btw - our Anniversary dinner at Chateau Bordeaux a couple of Sunday's ago (Zozo's was closed) was fantastic - seriously - the food we had was on par with the French Laundry (in Napa Valley, CA). Chef Omar Sanchez made some remarkable dishes (start to finish). I didn't even get a bite of my Wife's curry lobster - she almost licked the plate clean.

I really should write a trip report... (hard to find the time - but I wil try), but wanted to get a rave in for an incredible meal.

yes - this forum is great - cant wait for our return next year.

Off the subject but....your meal at Bordeaux was good? We will be celebrating an anniv. next June and asked about it. We are a bit nervous about the drive down after wine and dinner. We are used to Napa wine country and the food paring. Is it really all you say? Glad to hear~

Not only good, but superb. It was expensive though (not as much as the French Laundry of course - likely on par with Zozo's). The meal was $550 for the 4 of us (we spent $650 for 2 at the FL!)

We had appetizers/salads with a bottle of WhiteStar, then with the meal we had a bottle of Grgich Hills Fume Blanc, and also a half bottle of Testarossa Syrah (that wasn't on the wine list, but I saw it by the bar...). Always keep in mind that you on STJ - so they didn't have all the wines listed on the wine list - plus no mint for Mojitos, but it was all good.

We got there around 6:15 - and left around 9:30. There were only 4 other tables being served. It is amazing how slow mid-June can be - I couldn't even imagine how slow it must be after July 4th. We had the table by the window with great views of Coral Bay.

We intended to bring a bottle of Turley Zin, but we drank it on Saturday nite with NY Strip Steaks (BBQ'd at the villa) that we bought with us from CA.

We stayed at the Westin - and it only took us about 15 minutes to get to CB - up Grifft Rd (140) then on Centerline (10). Unison chanting of 'Stay to the Left' was useful for our drive home, but we were cool. Although I noticed the sound of nature thru the window did not change as we drove back down Centerline giving it somewhat of a surreal feel.

I have photos of the meal that I can attempt to post (PS. I don't have a website to post them to - so I guess I can't show them)

Blu,
Having tipped $150 (meal comp'd, this was tip only) to Fleur de Lys in Mandalay Bay Resort where our daughter is manager....$550 isn't bad! Thanks for your input and enjoyed your description of dinner. Must try it!
