I am planning a trip to St John later in the year. I was wondering if anyone could recommend locations on the island for beach diving. We have previously dived at Haulover Bay (both sides), Cinnamon Cay and Leinster (back in the day when there was a road). If anyone has any experience at other beach dive sites I would be greatly interested in learning about it.
Thanks
Hal
Try Kiddel Bay. Nice!

Thanks, RickG
I appreciate the Kiddle Bay suggestion. I found only a minimal amount of info about Kiddle Bay on the web or in a couple of St John beach guides that I have. I would be curious to hear a brief description of the diving at this site. I gather that Kiddle is the bay after Salt Pond. Do you know if there is a marker for the road that leads to Kiddle or is it just the next road after Salt Pond? We are also thinking that Lamshur might be a potential beach dive site. Do you have any experience there?
Thanks again
Hal
Kiddel is the first dirt road after the Salt Pond parking lot. It is bumpy and has not been graded in a while. You need to bear left at the Y to get to Kiddel. The right branch takes you to Grootpan Bay, another nice spot. Kiddel Bay is a cobblestone bay with an easy entry if you are wearing booties. Here''s the best description I've seen - http://seestjohn.com/beaches_kiddel.html
6 Paq does shore dives there.

It has been a couple of months since my buddy and I returned from our SJ trip. Although it didn't work out as planned, we wanted to thank you once again for the Kiddle Bay recommendation and give you a short Kiddle Bay report.
We drove our rented jeep to the crossroad at the top of Kiddle and Grootpan. The road continuing on to Kiddle Bay was in really bad shape. We walked down to the bay from the top of the road to check it out. We decided that it was too risky to drive down to the bottom due to the number of large pointed rocks that were in the road. We opted not to chance damaging our vehicle's underbody. It was probably a wise decision. We were later told by someone who lives on island that there had been several weeks of washout rains this past fall. It seemed to us that the road to Kiddle bay had been washed out in spots and was not passable. Maybe we erred on the side of caution. I wonder if anyone else has seen the condition of the road lately and if our perception is shared.
By the way, we did of our diving at Haulover and loved every minute of it.
Thanks again,
Hal
