As the Beach Bar seems to be "the place to be" on STJ Sunday afternoons, I propose we have an open Sticky invite to any & all board members for each Sunday. Then anyone on island during that time can add their name(s) to the list if they plan to attend. Helps to avoid each meeting going into the Topics list.
Heck, if we play it right Islander might be able to wrangle a sponsorship (maybe including discounts :))

Great idea!!! I think forum members should get a 10% discount, or at least a free t-shirt!!!

LLBL

You'll be there 7/1 so if you 'grease the skids', when we come in to Beach Bar on 7/16 & 23 they will see the forum can deliver 🙂

Will do! I would think they'd go for that. We need some sort of a VINOW member's card or something. Islander??

Hello,

StJohnRuth you there? Or another 'old' AOL board user. Didn't you guys have an open, weekly, at a particular spot on St. John get together back in the day? Just wondering how it worked out?

VInow member card... member discounts. Let me run the idea by some folks. 😉

Ok, Gari Ann what are your ideas for the membership card?

Hey....great idea, maybe we could do the same on STT, maybe Duffys, Paradise Point Sunset Party, Beach Bar at the Elysian, Iggys.

Quick followup: We did contact Beach Bar, the manager indicated a 25 person minimum for discussing possible discounts/specials.

The member discounts/coupons idea we are considering, its on the to do list to explore.

Hello Patrick,

If we can get a discounts/coupons thing going we'd try to cover all the islands.

about the Beach Bar - did anyone catch the July issue of CL&T, in the "lively up" section? its about the Beach Bar! It also has a Painkiller recipe, but the one on Beach Bar's website is different and better (more OJ, less Pineapple juice)

just thought I'd mention it...

Don't recall any get-togethers in STJ. The closest was at the Caribbean Saloon where Ruth and Ron as well as Marie came over from STJ.

Hello Ron,

Was it on a regular set time/day/location basis? Was looking for feedback on whether this worked out well if in fact you guys had such an arrangement in place.

Mostly August or February when set people from the AOL board were visiting.

Islander,

Perhaps you're referring to a time about 3-4 years ago (time sure flies) when those AOL regulars who stayed on St. John attempted to schedule a weekly get-together at the Banana Deck for whoever was on island at the time. I don't believe the enthusiasm for it was maintained. I think I remember Ruth saying she showed up a couple of times hoping for some message board folks, and would end up enjoying the afternoon by herself.

Thank you Ron and Gerie. Yes Gerie what you described is what I was thinking of, just wasn't sure if it actually ever happened or how it worked out; appreciate the feedback.

Islander,
I think it was every Wednesay night at the Banana Deck. I think we started it at a quiet time of the year (maybe August?)
As the season went on we had more people show up every week and it was fun. I met a lot of nice people.
I think we stopped because as the season got busier it was harder for me to be there every week. For another "Host", that might not be as much of an issue.
