*Hello! My husband and I are visiting St. Thomas on a cruise ship -- we'll be there one day - Sun. Oct. 31. We've been to Magen's Beach several times which is beautiful, however, we wanted to try a different beach that had a good seafood/caribbean outdoor restaurant. We just like to wade in the water; so snorkeling would be nice, but not necessary. Can you please give us a recommendation. Thank you.

I would suggest Sapphire Beach or Secret Harbor...they both have beautiful beaches and both offer a place to eat for lunch.

As Kimberly said both are wonderful choices but since you'll be there on a Sunday, Sapphire has a live band starting around 2:30 and some good BBQ, It's a lot of fun. If you're looking for something a little less crowded, then Secret Harbour would be a wonderful choice too.

Hi,

You've already gotten a couple of good recommendations.....Secret Harbour with a smaller, quieter beach and great snorkeling plus one of the best restaurants on the island and Sapphire which doesn't have a very good restaurant but does have the beach party on Sunday afternoon.

You can also try Point Pleasant which has Funghi's right on the water but with a not so great beach. Also Iggie's - one of my favorite beachfront eating places (Bolongo) and a decent beach. Up north just past Magens you also have Hull which is a nice, very quiet beach that is great for picnics and also has a neat island type restaurant in the Hull Bay Hideaway. Bluebeard's beach club has a new Mims restaurant there, the Elysian offers Roberts, and closer to the cruise ship dock you have the Marriott with Coco Joe's right on the beach.

Lot's of choices for you to pick from.

This poster's question inspires one from me. I know that the restaurant at Sapphire is not so great. I went there several years ago and was not inspired to go back at all. But what about Azure? I've never seen any reviews of that restaurant. Can anyone offer a brief description of it and/or opinion about it? It's by the marina, right? Thanks.

Gerie: Yes, Azure is located in Sapphire Village, behind the marina and by the pool. It is on the site of the late, great Oasis. It is one of my favorite places- great fish, lots of Thai-inspired dishes- in fact Thursday is Thai night. Beautiful bar. Great poster in the bathroom. Family owned and operated!
