My wife likes to sunbathe topples. Wondering if their are any places to do that. If she has to wear a suit she has a couple of sheer Wicked Weasel brands she loves to wear. Anyone have any feedback.

Iceman, if your still reading this board, I'm sure that your wife can find many discreet places to work on that all over tan. Many Villas offer excellent privacy just for that. There are also many beaches that you can search out where you will not see a soul most days.
Consider the point of view from someone who lives, works raises a family and relaxes on the island. Should they have any beach off limits to family activities because someone from another place wishes to break the local laws? In many cases they are breaking the laws from where they came. If the law requires that you be clothed then you should be clothed or pay the consequences. Part of those consequences are being looked at as a f@#%*^@ tourist. I have met those who really don't mind that label but it only makes it difficult for anyone who follows. In the national park it also carries a $100 fine.
While on Antigua I was having lunch at a beach diner when a commotion started. Two couples had arrived at the beach and the women promptly removed their tops even though at the entrance to the beach there was a sign posted prohibiting such. A local woman there with children raised an objection. The tourists raised their voices and got into a shouting match instead of simply complying with the law and the locals request. The police were called and the tourists were removed.
Now I really enjoy swimming in the ocean with nothing more than what the good lord gave me at birth, but I don't wish to either be on public display or cause a ruckus and I especially don't want to end up in jail or with a $100 fine. I like to relax on vacation.
Please be considerate while enjoying the pleasures of St John and leave things like you found them for people to enjoy after you've gone. That includes the attitudes of the fine people of St. John.

Although this post is old but for the benefit of those looking for alternatives, the tan-through swimwear is excellent. Very lightweight, quick-drying and NOT see-through, they come in a variety of styles both one and two-piece, are extremely comfortable and the material is SPF10. And they have a selection of men's suits also. You can easily find suppliers by googling "tan-through swimwear." Cheers and happy line-free tanning!

The $100 fine is a local government fine, not a National Park fine. The National Park rangers are enforcing the local law.
They are usually more strict and will not give only a warning.
Thi applies to all U.S. National Parks nationwide, no park has a law against toplessness nor nudity. But they do enforce local laws against such.

HOLY MOLY,ICEMAN! I checked out the website, and as much as I'm all for that kind of bathing suit, I'm not sure you'll be too appreciated on most beaches on STJ. Maybe Soloman or Maho on a slow day. Just be careful! There will be tourists and locals with children, and you don't want to be a catalyst for arguments. It's a small island, and you'll end up bumping into people more than you think during your vaca. I'm the first to take off my trunks at a beach, but I'm sure not tooffend anyone.-Smiles!

I will just say that after checking out that site, I may get a call from corporate data security.;)

I would not suggest wearing a suit like that to any of the larger more popular beaches. I am not a prude and I have been known to "drop my top" at some one the smaller beaches, but a suit like that leaves nothing to the imagination.

I checked the tan-through swimwear website and I don't see anything wrong with those suits. Why the HOLY MOLY, ICEMAN! (LOL)
Just curious what everyone is seeing, that I don't! I'd wear one of those suits, they look just fine!

I think the discussion is getting confused between "see-through" and "tan-through."

I believe the "HOLY MOLY, ICEMAN" comment was in reference to the www.wickedweasel.com, not the "tan through" sites.
