Hello West,

On St. Thomas...

Cabana Bar is at Bluebeards Castle Hotel. I don't think that bar is open right now. Other restaurant/bars at Bluebeards are Banana Tree Grill, Room with a View and the Pool Bar.

Mountain Top is an attraction with shops, cafe, look out deck and bar! Never noticed the name of the bar but Mountain Top Bar makes sense. It is known for its Banana Daiquiri.

One of the main reasons to go to Mountain Top is for the view. On a clear day, it's beautiful. Kind of touristy...alot of cruise ship passengers do a little shopping, get their banana daquiries, look at the view and then they're pretty much out of there. Nice drive up there, but for some reason we always miss that last turn.

Connie, we missed that last turn also! Wound up taking a nice tour of that part of the island before we found it. Had a lovely little drive, great views, and finally the view at Mountain Top! It IS a little touristy, but hey, that we are too! LOL! Absolutly worth the trip for views, light shopping, and of course that daquirie.

Doesn't Liz of Banana Tree Grill also own the Cabana Bar? You might contact her about the job posting.

You're correct, Gerie. Liz and Jerry Buckalew own Banana Tree Grille (formerly named Entre Nous until they changed the name after they were able to finally re-open after the devastation of STT via hurricane Marilyn on September 15 1995 which messed up many of us in many different ways!) And they opened the adjacent Cabana Bar a couple of years ago.

Whether Islander is correct or not in saying that the Cabana Bar is closed I've no idea. Talked to Liz the other day but we weren't talking in that direction! Could be that it was temporarily closed during the off-season slump weeks when many restaurants take a break.

"west," I do find it hard to believe that Liz or Jerry would post a help wanted ad with no contact information You should probably call Banana Tree Grille at 776-4050. Cheers!

west: which could well have been a temporary glitch where the local newspaper was concerned. Welcome to island life! Cheers!

West, you're welcome. Good luck with the job search.

PS: Haven't seen you on the relocation board in a while but you might check it out, sometimes there are jobs posted on the classifieds section. http://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/index.php
