Planning to go to St. John in Jan - will either stay at Maho Bay or Cinnamon Bay camps. Are there places there that we would be able to cash travelers checks or will we need to go into Cruz Bay to do that at a bank? I see both lhave small stores, but would they be able to cash travelers checks or not? Are atms on the island at all?
Thanks - Lori

Have you tried calling Maho directly as they'll be able to tell you immediately and where its located.

We stayed at Cinnamon and I seem to remember using Travelers Cheques in the store. There is an ATM at the bank across the street from Woody's bar on the corner. If you stay at Maho, let us know what you think. We are heading down there in June and considering Maho.

There is also a bank ATM that we used outside the entrance to the Starfish Market. We are Bank of America customers and there was no service charge 🙂

Is it better to bring an atm card or do travelers checks. I know we'll need cash for taxis and the ferry, but I have never liked to travel with a lot of cash on my person.
Any suggestions or ideas wuld be great!

We just brought cash (5's and 10's for taxi/ferry money) and used credit card for meals, gifts, etc. We hit an ATM towards the end of the week to replenish and it was no problem. We split the cash up between us and also used our villa's safe.
