Can anyone recommend any bakeries in the east end? I'm looking for something similar to Zee Best in Saint Martin if you are familiar with that breakfast place.
Thanks
I found a delicious place to find fresh pastries on Smith Bay road. Go past the entrance to Coki beach and past the minimart. You will see a group of shops, kind of strip mall style, only smaller, it is called Jerry's Bakery. She makes fresh tarts, struedels, carrot cakes, you name it. Very inexpensive, we bought 2 bags of pastries last week and it only cost $10 total. Her granddaughter was helping at the counter so we gave her the change, but the owner was somewhat embarressed to take tips. Her coconut tart is my favorite. If you feel adventurous, stop at the fruit stand across the street. This small Puerto Rican lady (very sweet I should get her name) will open a fresh cocnut for you to take home to make concoctions with. I was somewhat startled when she came out with a 36" machete and started butchering the crap out of the coconut, but obviously she has done this many times before.
Hope this helps,
Molly
New discovery for me...the freshly deep fried doughnuts at K Mart in TuTu...OMG, they are so delicious. I like the ones covered in cinnamon sugar but they have several types that literally melt in your mouth. Johnny cakes are fresh there too.
Excellent store-made pastries, muffins, croissants, breads and cakes at Plaza Xtra in the Tutu mall. Cheers!
