I'm not sure what part of the island that you will be staying at, but my favorite is Gerry's Bakery in Smith Bay. It is a local bakery serving lot's of local favorites. Fresh selections daily. They have tropical fruit tarts, scones, turnovers and a multitude of local breads, just to name a few.

Poohwear,

Gerry's (or Jerry's) is across from the fruit stands in Smith Bay on the other side of the street, just above the gas stations. They have two little "strip malls" there, it is the one closer to Coki road. When you pull into the parking lot, they are the furthest on the left.
I love their pastries, but I'd be curious to hear your review.

Molly

Barefoot Buddha Coffee Shop across from Havensight has KILLER carrot muffins with REAL cream cheese frosting. All their bakery products are good, but the carrot muffins are the best I've ever had. They're not cheap, though. Approx $4 each, but worth it!

When you come down Cassis Hill, the bakery is located in the second little shopping center on the right, fronted by the gas station.

My favorite is the Marina Market in Red Hook across from the ferry terminal. Great Fresh bakery section. Try the ginger scones for a local favorite. Great selection on fresh baked breads as well. Many other sweets selections.

Cassis Hill is on the Smith Bay Road, Rte 38.

The bakery section at Plaza Xtra is excellent - wonderful muffins and all sorts of other sinful delights!

Just for your information Picaso's Coffee Bar has baked goods from one of the bakers from the old Franks Bakery. Great donuts and apple strudels. Also in smith bay just down the road from Jerry's.
