My husband, 10 month old baby, and I will be traveling to St. Thomas April 21-May 2. We will be staying in a condo on Sapphire Beach and are planning to rent a car.

Does anybody have any tips, info, advice for a couple of first timers and their infant???

Will we have any problems taking a day boat trip? (We are planning on bringing our own lifejacket)

Thanks!!

Wish I'd heard your plans earlier; we were having the same problem with booking a snorkel trip; our child is 3 1/2. We finally booked with Shag for a half day/ $200 pp. We were lucky enough to be able to wait until the 28th when friends are joining us (5 of 6 boat spots).

Just curious, who did you book with?

Hi Lori,

We booked with Capt'n Jim at www.sailjester.com. Very nice, professional and fair on the phone. Sounds like it's going to be a great day!

The standard rate quoted to us was $600 for an 'exclusive' up to 6 people.
Full day sail to St. John- 10:00 to 4:00
Fishing to and fro
Light breakfeast - carribean lunch
Unlimited beverages (painkillers - mmmmmm!)
A couple of snorkle stops

We basically shopped online - Shag did not come up in any of our searches?

So this is this is the famous 'island kai' you speak of - Pirate in training?

Jeff:

We found Shag (a powerboat) through this sight. We're doing the powerboat because we wanted to see more. The $200 covers 8 a.m - noon and they're picking us up at the Westin St. John where we are staying. Another reason we're powerboating is that we didn't know how our daughter would handle it, though we have high hopes as she is very adventerous. We chose Shag also because their boat had a full head, which we felt was important for our daughter's comfort.

Have fun.
