Call me a free spirit or what u want. But I'm planning on coming to the island camping 'til I find a place to stay. Anyone need a bartender or server? I'll be there in 2 days. Willing to start on the spot. I know it's a bad idea, but I'm just buying a one way ticket. St. Thomas
matt: I recommend that "u" check the relocation board (look at top right of this page.) You will find that
1. Camping on St Thomas is not recommended and could land you in big trouble.
2. You will need to get a health card, which will slow you down in your F & B job search
3. It is highly recommended that you have a return ticket in case things don't work out for you. People that start out thinking a one-way is a bad idea are the ones who need the return ticket the most.
1. true
2. true again
3. Very true
Seen it happen a 100 times.
Ahhh yes, there are SO many who return, but there are many of us who don't! Some stay for just a year, some less, some for just a few years and some forever! There was no return ticket for me and hopefully never will!
Matt must be here, by now! You cking the forum?
Sherri, maybe you have a job for him!! :o)
Or me!!!!!
I flew down on a one way ticket but I also had a place to live and enough money to last me for 6 months. I think that many people hop on a plane with a few hundred dollars, a dream of living on a tropical island, and a backpack full of stuff thinking that they can sleep in a hammock on the beach.
I was working at a restaurant and the owner hired a kid that just showed up on isand. He knew no one and was renting a room at Tamarind Court and he only had enough money to pay for one more night or pay for his health card to work in a restaurant. He ended borrowing the money from the owner to get his card, worked about a week and realized that he didn't make enough to pay for a place to stay, so he called someone back home and they bought him a ticket home.
Connie,
Depends on how cute he is! 🙂
Waterguy,
You're hired! 🙂
