I got badly attacted by bugs last trip now I plan on slathering myself in repellent the whole week, any recs?
I do not believe Skinsosoft is strong enough. We used products with at least 50% DEET. Found some at Walmart for ~$4 in a pump spray and it worked great. No 'Off' smell.
There are alternatives to DEET which is very very fierce on your skin. Into the Sea Gallery in the Royal Dane Mall has local products that will do the job without deet. I remember that it was something with lemon grass....and? not sure about the other product.
You can check their new website at http://intothesea.org If the product is not yet online, simply e-mail the store.
Sunrise pharmacies here also have a local product that is called Bug Off and Benadryl as a spray or gel is an absolute must for me and my sad reaction to no-seeums. It shut down the resulting welt and itch within minutes.
I get a prescription from my doctor for Diprolene .05% lotion in case I'm bitten. It is the ONLY thing I've found that works on the itching - those Caribbean bugs are just enough different from their northern cousins that I apparently have no immunity and, for me, Benadryl doesn't help much. It's not worth the aggravation and one prescription will last a couple years. Most doctors will write the prescription without an office visit.
