Is it necessary to bring a lot of cash to the island with you, or are there ATM machines that can be readily accessed? Also do most businesses accept debit cards?

Most businesses accept credit cards. They accept debit cards as well (Visa, Mastercard backed debit cards) ATM machines are readily available as well.
