We'll be arriving on St. John on May 31st, around the time that Pan-O-Rama is being held at the ball field. Will the ferries be packed? Do we need to reserve a spot on the ferries in advance? Thanks!

You cannot reserve space on the ferries.

I'm confused. I saw this post on the Varlack-Ventures website:

INFORMATION: Ferry time is aproximately 20 minutes.
Tickets can be purchased in advance, up to one week. (Bag tickets may not be purchased in advance.)
Commuter books are available upon request and are non-transerrable and void if detached from book.

Doesn't Varlack run the ferries?

You can purchase to tickets ahead of time, but that doesn't reserve a seat on any particular ferry run.

There are 2 passenger ferry companies and they run every hour on the hour between STT/STJ from Red Hook but you cannot reserve space. It's first come, first served. Sure you won't have a problem getting over to STJ. You may wish to make advance arrangements about getting picked up from ferry or getting your rental car as downtown may be a bit of a zoo.
