are there any grocery stores on st croix? we will be staying in the cottages by the sea and would like to buy coffee and everyday staples once we arrive, where would we look for these items? Is there a grocery store or kmart? any place like that on the island?

Several ways to answer this question. The smart a$$ in me wants to say one thing ,while my other side says to say yes, there are several grocery stores and two KMarts!

I'll be the smart ass -- no, no grocery stores on STX, we forage for our food.

Now, nice Linda -- on the way to Cottages from the airport you will pass both K Mart and Plaza Extra, a large grocery store. If you have a car, getting back to both places is simple. You'll like Cottages. Have a fun vacation.

To the poster: Sorry, we must all have a little impishness in us today! 😉

I am glad you all can laugh about the question, It is nice to know everyone seems to have a sense of humor, but seriously I had tried to find the info on the internet and I couldn't find it. I am glad to hear that there is, thought maybe since it was a small island we would be eating out everynight or buying from quick stops, Knew there had to be at least one though for the residents. I am traveling with one elderly aunt that is very finicky about what she eats and this helps alot. thanks all and cant wait to get there! I did see a picture of a small bar with a coors light sign out front, so I know there is at least that! have a great day

I am surprised that you could not find the info on the internet. If you go to the top of the pages and click on St Croix and shopping, there is information in all sorts of shopping. I did a google search on St croix grocery shopping and ended up with dozens of choices.

There is a lot of information on the internet, you just have to look.

The island of St. Croix is permanent home for 50,000 people. It has the second largest oil refinery in the western hemisphere. We have a university, a national park, are a part of the US Postal Service and the US phone service. We have hospitals, schools, high school sports. We have McDonalds, KFC, Subway, Wendy's. We even have all the same TV channels you are used to.

Don't forget movie theaters. When I was in college, my roommate asked if we had movies down here. I told him no, we weren't able to build a grass hut big enough! He said, ooh.

I just wonder how long the anchors are going to hold the island in place.

It would be sad to see it float away!
