Just wondering if anyone is there on the islands stuck because of the Spirit strike or if travelors cant get to the islands because of the strike and already bought tickets? If I read right, is it true that other air carriers will not honor there Spirit tickets and have to buy all new ones? Oh I would be coming un-glued if that were me.

I'm stuck in NH for other reasons. I certainly would prefer being stuck in the USVI. Actually I always hope that my airlines goes on strike when I'm there. But I'm sure it is tough on those that have to get back home. I remember 9/11 and the problems that caused.

Our trip is scheduled for July 6th. We booked with Spirit back in February. I don't know what we are going to do yet....Anyone have any suggestions?

I hope you have purchased travel insurance prior to the strike. Our trip will be (hopefully) July 9th, and I have purchased our 6 tickets and paid 2 weeks of house rentals along with ferry fares since October '09. Thank god for last week post on this board about the strike and I bought travel insurance 2 days prior to it.
In any case please check this site out for more info about our rights and what to do:

Best of luck to all of us.

With the way airlines are going these days, I think trip insurance is a must for any trip just to be safe. It would suck to have to use it because it means something went wrong but hopefully you would get back some of your hard earned money. Oh and I would LOVE to be stuck on St. John. lol

HI Everyone,

Just a side note here. When the strike occurred it was our day to leave ST John. Had nine people to find alternative airlines home. Have to say thanks to all the other airline representatives and staff at the airport terminal ST Thomas. They were kind, helpful to a fault. Even rushed my daughter , her husband and 2 year old through customs, with all of our my family on different airlines home, there was no way they could have managed the baby and luggage without help.

We had trip insurance, now just to find out how much we will recover for all our costs to get back home. We had to pay top dollar and even had to buy first class tickets to get our group home. It cost us as much as the house rental and airline costs down combined to get us home. SIGH.

IT's only money. I just keep that in mind. The whole week was incredible, son's wedding was full of wonderful memories. Not going to let Spirit Airline Strike ruin that.
