I got back a few weeks ago from St. Thomas - we had a fantastic time. We are already talking about our next trip next spring.
I'm trying to recruit my entire family to go. I wanted to know of a large & beautiful villa w/a pool.
Does anyone know of any? Thanks!
There are quite a few.
I can help, but it would help if you narrow it down by telling us how many children there are and how many couples vs. singles. etc. The configuration of the bedrooms is what will identify the right villa for you and your party...
Example....some villas offer a master suite that is in the main house and a separate "pavillion" for other bedrooms. This is a bad configuration when an adult couple is traveling with their small children. Would you really want to put your children in a separate building...especially when the two buildings are separeted by a pool and/or stairs?
However, this configuration might work wonderfully when all traveling are adults, etc.
The bedroom configuration can be one of the most difficult requirements to satisfy when children are involved.
Give me more details and I'll name specific villas.

Thanks - by the way I always enjoy your posts!
It probably would be easier to break out each family w/in the family:
2 adults
2 adults w/2 boys
2 adults w/2 boys
2 adults w/2 boys & 1 girl
2 adults w/1 boy & 1 girl
1 adult w/1 boy
We would probably need 6 rooms for the adults (hopefully w/private baths) and we would need kid rooms in whatever configurations they come (maybe 5 rooms that sleeps 2 kids each)
We are interested in a pool.
Any help would be appreciated!

I've emailed the villa details and rates to you at your email address. Once you divide the cost of the villa amongst the adults, the villa is an affordable alternative to traditional hotel travel. And, not having to eat out at every meal makes it even more affordable. For the waterfront and beachfront villas, you can arrange to have watersport items delivered to your villa (jet skis, kayaks, fishing boats, etc). You can also have sail or motored charters pick you up from your villa's beach.
Best wishes for your planning!! Keep us all informed as your plans develop.
Bluwater: There are very few places where jet skis could be delivered to a villa. Magen's, the marine sanctuary on the east end of St Thomas and most of St John, for example, either ban or severely restrict their use. Thank God.
EE - They are delivered to Sand Dollar (Peterborg - Megan's Bay) for sure, which in Megan's Bay. I saw them being delivered and subsequently used a couple of weeks ago. I remember feeling annoyed as I lazed on Platform beach because they kept coming by us - and crisscrossing the bay from one side to the other (multiple jet skis).
Luckily, most vila renters don't want them and would rather enjoy the water peacefully and quietly.
Hmm, well, locals aren't allowed to bring them through and launch them from Magens. I suspect they brought them around from Hull Bay. Also there is a big sign at Magens- no jet skis! There are a number of rules regarding where they can be used, however, enforcing the rules is something else.
I guess this was far enough out into the bay. I don't think you would have heard them from the the Megan's Bay Beach and they wouldn't have endangered any swimmers. They only bothered me because I was on the next pocket of sand over from Sand Dollar Estate, at Platform.
But, I support no jet-skis anywhere. They're obnoxious, not to mention dangerous.
Come have a look at our place on Water Island.
We have a pool, dock and no problem with jet skis.
Your group is close to our maximum, but we can house 25 in three separate cottages. Go see www.water-island.com
