I've seen the Kontiki boat in the Charlotte Amalie waterfront area. If I recall, it's kind of a flat barge looking boat with a roof that says "Kontiki" in bog letters. I think the idea is that it's a big, floating bar with music playing.

i went on the Kontiki in April. i booked it as a shore excursion when i was on a cruise. it was fun, like the others said it is basically a floating bar, with all the rum punch you can drink! the rum punch is in these igloo coolers and you just serve yourself, but there is a guy behind the bar that will put even more rum in your drink. i think they also had some non-alchaholic punch too. you board the boat and it takes you up and down the harbor. I would reccommend being on the lower deck because even in april it was hot on the top, and i'm from arizona!!! it takes you to this public beach for about an hour to swim, and then on the way back they have a live steel drum band, a limbo, a conga line, etc. it was much more fun on the way back then on the way there. it seemed pretty crowded, but not so much that it was uncomfortable. if you have any more specific questions let me know!

More fun on the way back than there! LOL That's why it's dubbed a booze cruise! Loads of fun for those who love to party!

Yes, dubbed the "booze cruise" is right. The "public beach" is Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. Glass bottom boat allows passengers to see fishies and other aquatic life. They run the bow up to the shore and the people disembark and enjoy the beautiful beach and wonderful, calm swimming area. Heidi Honeymoon Grill is on Honeymoon Beach on Saturday & Sunday in case you want a spectacular burger, steack, chicken....lunch. As is expected, Water Islander's have mixed feelings about the KonTiki. It does provide a daily hour of entertainment/excitement. On the other hand, sometimes the "red tongues" (indicative of rum punch) can get a little crazy (taking islander golfcarts, beach cars for a joy ride, diving off the Kontiki and/or climbing cocount trees and getting themselves or others hurt, leaving trash & ciggarette butts on our lovely beach. Most guests are respectful so no worries. The owners of the Kontiki and Water Island Civic Association work diligently to live in peace with each others' perspective goals.
