Would love to hear about your MUST DO's and DON'Ts experiences. Any recommendations for Catering? Photography? Video? Etc.

Thank You

I was actually married on St. John this past May. My husband and I went to St Thomas this September. I don't know where you're from, but it might be safe to say, you would enjoy St John better for your wedding. I can definitely give you a million details. Alain Brin was the photographer I chose. He is wonderful and very professional. He does a lot of the postcards for the islands. I used .T. entertainment for the videographer, he was chosen at the last minute. He was also great to work with, a lot of personality. I think both of them are based out of St. Thomas. If you need opinions on certain caterers I may be able to help out. Getting married there was the best decision we could have made. It was wonderful.

I would love to get more detailed information about weddings in St. John vs. a wedding in St. Thomas (the pros and the cons of both).
Any details provided would be greatly appreciated for example...
- Where you stayed.
- Where you got married.
- Where you had your reception.
- Total number of guest.
- Cost.

My fiance and I are trying to figure out if we are better off flying to the islands for a wedding or to stick with our original plan of a wedding in New York (cery expensive. it will tap out our entire savings)

Many thanks in advance.

-Alison

I have to echo Jessica's comments and recommendations. The timing's amazing, my wife and I were married on St. John on May of 2000. Alain Brinn was the photographer too! We paid for him to come over from St. Thomas and shoot and video our wedding. He did a fantastic job. My only regret is that when I brought the pictures back to the states I had them developed at a middle of the road photo shop and they scratched the negatives. So, my advice would be to bare no costs and use the top of the line studio in your hometown to develop the pictures. Other than that, make sure to pick up your license and allow plenty of wait time, and if any of the taxivan drivers try to butt in just speak up. Also, make sure to get a certified copy, or a duplicate original, of the wedding certificate to bring back and file with your home-county's recorder office; you'll need it for changing your last name, if you're doing that, w/the Soc. Sec. office, on your passport (if you have one) and your banks and credit cards may also require it.

Enjoy the trip.

Hello. We are also thinking about getting married and would love to know more. Would you mind including me in your email so you wouldn't have to double type. I have very similiar questions and am also debating between NY, Connecticut and the VIrgin Islands. Any help would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Elaine
