Hello everybody,

As I just explain Jeff from Texas, over here in France it is mid-night + (almost 1:00 AM). I have to go to bed because I feel tired after a working week and I don't want to take a decision in this state. I prefer waiting for tomorrow, after a good night.

YOU can help to take my decision : What is better for 6 nights including airfares from Miami with direct flights?
EBR : a total of 2470 euros (USD 3000), a room for 2 adults and 2 kids, beach front
or
Sapphire Beach Resort : a total at 2600 euros (USD 3250) same but yacht harbor side
You have to know that we are casual people, no snob at all, we enjoy the real life and we hate artificial world

Thanks in advance to all of you who are going to give me their mind and argue. Hope that tomorrow, I will discover a lot of memo to read ;o))

See you tomorrow
Catherine

There have been many reports on this board about the EBR if you go back a few pages offering many pros and cons.

Personally, I liked the place for the cost. As just a regular guy, I don't need or even want 4 star accomodations. I'd rather be comfortable than worrying about fitting in with people who are much better off than me (not that I'm doing that bad). For my wife and me, the hotel was nice enough and we were always comfortable. The beach is directly in front of the rooms, and all rooms face the sea. You've already heard that Sam is an all star at the beach bar...but don't forget Rolston who works weekends. 🙂

As mentioned in a few of the debates about the EBR, it's a good place to sleep and hang out on the beach for a lazy day. Hang out with Sam at the beach bar, and eat at the Palms on Friday for the Caribbean Buffet to try the local meals. Most of your time will probably be exploring STT and you absolutely have to ferry over to STJ for at least one of your 6 days.

I really know nothing about Sapphire so I can't say anything about that so maybe someone else can help.

Catherine: Emerald Beach is probably nicer than the three star hotel where I stayed in Paris, but not as nice as the three star hotels in the French countryside...Sapphire is probably a "3 +", although we don't really have the same rating system. Sapphire is close to Red Hook for lots of dining options and the ferry to St John. I believe you also would have a kitchen at Sapphire if you want to prepare le petit dejeuner or other meals occasionally... There is a wonderful restaurant at Sapphire poolside at the condos, Restaurant Azure. The beach at Emerald Beach is less built up- more locals come to use it. Sapphire has jet skis and things like that.

Hi,

You are right: even if the room is something like insipid, the ambiance is more important than furnitures and so on: I just made my reservation for one week at EBR because I am very excited to meet Sam and Rolston..and other people like I am
