So like most of you before I had even arrived back to my real life, my mind was already churning with plans to return and wondering how we could get back next June instead of December which was the soonest I thought it possible since we are busy shoveling out money for our Graduate's college expenses.
Sat down with hubby and the kids and mentioned renting a cottage instead of a villa with a pool and the little man chimes in with "NO POOL!?, NO POOL MOM!?" Then our daughter pipes up with "I'd really like a pool again Mom." I don't need a freaking pool, just give me the beach and I'm there baby! Ok, so there goes either the cottage idea or the June idea.
Then I remembered that my dad has timeshare privileges through Interval International and had him go through his book. The Westin offers 2 different villa level exchanges with 1, 2 or 3 bedroom to put in for. Are the chances of getting one of these completely impossible? I'm assuming off-season is still going to be my best bet to try? Anyone in the know about this? It would be great to get one of these on an exchange (can you say FREE for ME!?), that way the villa monsters can have their fricken pool!!!
Just thought this was worth asking, I've had good luck in the past with exchanges but since St. John only offers the one place they may be few and far between. Crossing my fingers...
We bought a week there three years ago. Before we did that, we tried to trade thru Interval Int'l for several years. It never worked out. Something like 85% of the villa owners never put their week up for trade. According to I. I., it's the number 1 hardest place to trade for a week.
You might find some good deals directly with owners on EBay or some of the timeshare websites like Redweek.com.
Good luck.

FYI, only the 3 bedrooms in the older "garden view units" at WSJ have private pools. Lots of rentals; I may know of one in late April if you'd like to email me.
