Hi
My family will be staying at the Morningstar in April. My twelve year old son loves waterslides etc... Does anyone know of any waterpark type areas on any of the virgin islands? (I thought I saw a really neat inflatible rock wall with a slide at one of the St. John resorts.

Thanks!

there aren't any waterparks of the type you have in mind. There are inflatable climbing structures with slides at various resorts and beaches around the Caribbean. They come and go, depending on how quickly they develop serious holes in the plastic. Some places have water trampolines, as well. Some resorts may have a slide or two into their swimming pools, but not water park quality to excite a 12 year old.

Since you can swim from the beaches on most of the islands, water parks seem kind of redundant here. Maybe your son will enjoy snorkeling. He's also old enough to go SCUBA diving if he's mature enough to take it seriously.

There are waverunners for rent in many places, although a 12 year old would have to have an adult riding with him. If he's a dare devil, there are places to do some cliff diving from 10-50 feet into a pool below. He can take a sailing lesson in a sunfish sailboat or hobie cat. There are lots of variations on water sports available in the islands.
