Hi,
I'm the father of a 20 & 21 year old & us & 3 of their friends are arriving on St. Thomas on Saturday 5/13 for some well deserved time off. I'm asking for any tips or suggestions as to what would be of interest to the younger crowd while we're there. We've booked a day sail, plan to golf, bringing snorkeling gear and relaxing on the beach but I want it to be as memorable for them as possible (without getting into trouble of course).
Any suggestions like good nightlife or best beaches or activities for kids their age. We've also rented a van so we can go anywhere.
Thanks for your help.
Steve
p.s. VINOW.com has been a great help too!
For that age group & yourselves - I would definitely suggest a day trip to The Baths, if time allows.
We did New Horizons II, out of Sapphire Beach Marina - it was a great day trip that was the highlight of our first trip to "the islands"! It also stops at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke - which is the home of Soggy Dollar Bar and it's famouns "Painkillers". Also, One Love Bar down the beach might have some awesome music by Seddy Callwood, as well.
Also, has a lunch stop & another snorkeling stop.
Great all day excursion - Plus you have the added plus of seeing "the islands" from cruising around in an awesome boat with great service!
Really think that this could be that "memorable" day that you are looking for.
We went to Iggies Carnival Beach Party on Wednesday night at Bolongo Bay Resort. There was a mix of all ages and it was fun. Congo line, dance contest, Mocko Jumbie dancer (island thing), and a guy that walked on glass and played with fire. We did not eat the buffet. We arrived just before 8pm and grabbed a beach chair and a few drinks from the bar. The show was free. Here is a link:

Sapphire Beach also has a beach party on Sundays that starts about 2pm. We didn't go but heard it was fun.
We also took a motor boat trip to the British Virgin island Virgin Gorda to see The Baths which I believe everyone would enjoy. You don't need a passport until 2007; we just used our drivers license and birth certificates. We left from American Yacht Harbor in Red Hook, STT. The trip ran from 7:45am to 5:00pm (we had a long wait at customs because it was Easter week) The trip included a guided tour of The Baths (we took the route with more climbing and jumped off a rock cliff into the ocean below), a lunch stop at Cooper Island, and another snorkel stop. We got to go to "The Indians". This was with Stormy Petrel/Pirates Penny.($125 per person plus $20 customs per person and cash was needed for lunch) Here is the link or you can call them at 340-775-7990.

Have a nice trip.
Hello,
For nightlife; you can try Greenhouse during happy hour http://www.thegreenhouserestaurant.com/greenhousestt/events.html. The Caribbean show at Bolongo mentioned and Sapphire on Sundays are lots of fun. Iggies is a bar/restaurant at Bolongo Bay that is good and can be fun. There is a happy hour at Paradise Point tram as well. In Frenchtown on Friday or Saturday night you could go out for dinner and then hang out at Stereo for a bit. In Havensight area you could go for burgers at Shipwreck and then head over to Offshore, which sometimes has live music/dj. Sibs Restaurant would be good for dinner and then maybe play some pool. In Red Hook there are a few restaurants/bars.

I'd also suggest Duffy's Love Shack in Red Hook, STT for an after dinner bar experience. Very fun, little bar with signature foo-foo drinks, great music (from the 70's to current), dancing and a place a 20 yr old and 50 yr old could enjoy. If you have too much rum (or not even), go to Sopchoppy's across the street for some alcohol-absorbing, WONDERFUL, greasy pizza!
I think renting a boat and heading to Jost Van Dyke is fun. But thats my favorite place on Earth so I'm slightly biased. Everyone can sit relax in a hammock on a gorgeous beach or explore the island on a 4 wheeler. There is even a water trampoline for the kids or the adult kids. Plus you can snorkel some of the best spots on accessible via boat.
But its hard to give a good recommendation since it depends on what the kids like to do and want to do and same for the adults.
