We are going to St John in 3 weeks and love to visit some of the bars that have live island/reggea music. I dont care to hear Jazz or anything I can hear plenty back in the US. I want to enjoy the beautiful scenery of St John listening to caribbean music. Love steel drum bands. Any suggestions on places where I might be able to experience this, please let me know. I guess I can always talk to the locals when I get there too. Thanks
Hello Maria,
The Westin Resort usually has a Caribbean show with steel pan music, but they aren't doing it right now because its off season. They will likely start back up when season picks up in mid-Nov/early Dec.
Caneel Bay at their beach bar has live Caribbean music on Friday & Saturday nights. And they have a sunset sail with steel pan music I think on Thursday or Sunday. Best bet is call and confirm dates, time, cost and whether you need a reservation.
Fred's usually has Inner Visions (local reggae band) and I think Cool Session Brass playing, but they aren't playing right now. Inner Vision is doing their stateside tour; I think they will be back on St. John around November.
