I have been to St. John before but not in many years. I was surprised at how pricey the cottages and homes are now! I have booked a tent at Cinnamon Bay for the 2 weeks we are there, but I am not sure that I want to spend the whole 2 weeks there. Are there any not so fancy simple homes or condos to rent? Or a local posting for places?

I am travelling with my husband and 2 daughters ages 6 and 9. We have our jeep rented and just prefer a little place with the ability to make meals. No hot tub or plunge pool required and we are not resort type travellers.

Any help would be appreciated! We look forward to our visit.

What's the timeframe of your vacation? Have you considered a week on Water Island to go with your week on St. John? Many villas on WI are lower cost and nicely situated/appointed. Most villas come with transportation included with the property for transportation on WI so you could forego your jeep rental. There are nice beaches, Ft. Segarro, bike tour, "Drive-in" movie on the beach on Monday nights, Heidi Honeymoon grill @ Honeymoon Beach on Sat. & Sun., All-u-can-eat pizza/deli/convenience store......

Hi,
Go to towncountryusvi.com and click the link to "short term rentals" They have a apartment to rent (about $130 per night or so I think) It is opposite to Skinny's in Coral Bay so you would need to rent a car but it is very clean, a/c, bathroom, kitchen, living room etc (you can see in the photos) It has a queen bed downstairs (open plan) and upstairs in a loft there is another bed - perfect for your kids - but be aware access to the upstairs is by a ladder and you would have to be comfortable that the kids could handle that - but it is a great inexpensive place to rent (beats a tent imho anyday 🙂 )

Sounds interesting this Water Island. Thanks for the advice. I am looking into it. Anyone else have recommendations on Water Island?

Clea, I just responded to your inquiry regarding Flamingo Point Estate. And, after seeing your post here, sent additional info. Don't hesitate to email if you have additional questions re: Water Island - I'm happy to help.

Clea, you may want to look into Star Villas and Samuel Cottages
on St. John in the Cruz Bay area. They both have web sites.
samuelcottages.com and starvillas.com
