I just received my renewal notice for my annual maintenance fee at Tropic Leisure Club with a 5 page letter explaining what wonderful upgrades the Shelbys have planned in the near future. At the same time, I noticed a new entry on www.tripadvisor.com that someone added pictures of the rooms and it looked horribly disgusting. Are the Shelbys really doing anything to improve the property? One good thing, they got rid of Jeff.
What would happen if I did not pay the annual maintenance fee?

I would appreciate any comments on my concerns.
Many thanks!

If you don't pay the Maint. Fee, then you cannot use it or trade it. If you go long enough without paying it, they take over ownership of your week. The Shelbys have leased out the Restaurant to INDiGO, and it is fabulous. One of the partners in the Restaurant is now getting involved with the new units...still just a hole in the ground, though. "Plans" are nice...but when will they actually get done? Good question. Long on promises, short on delivery...just like always with Michael and Mercedes Shelby. Just MY opinion, of course.

Thanks Marty for the kind reply. I sent a letter to the New Hampshire address as well as directly to the Magens Resort requesting that they take over the ownership of my unit. Would you believe that no one answers the published 800 number. I finally got through by dialing direct, but was told it was a "bad time" to call and try later. (good grief).
Please tell me that it wasn't like this when you managed the property. These people just plain don't care.
If anyone wants my week/unit, feel free to contact me and its yours.(yes, I'm serious)

No, Jon, it wasn't like that when I was there. One of the reasons I left was because of the dwindling customer service.

Do you want to just give your week away? Before you do that, I'd contact Tommy Tubbs at www.timesharestogo.com and he can sell it very cheap for you. And relatively quickly, too. Getting something is better than giving it away, don'tcha think? But, if you just want to get out from under it, contact me by e-mail at [email protected].
