I was wondering if there was a good beach bar or reg. bar to go to at night on STJ. There will be people ranging in age from 23 - 40's. (But our parents probably party harder than we do!)

And what is the drinking age on STJ & STT? 18 or 21? My sister is coming with and is 19. She is the only one under 21. We will probably only go out once or twice but we can't leave her behind alone!

Drinking age is the USVI is 18 (is your sister jumping for joy?)

Most young (and older) people enjoy Woody's in Cruz Bay - it's a litle hole in the wall place with a great following and the party normally spills out into the road. Another good spot is Rhumbalaya over by the ferry dock, with a large outdoor bar area that fronts the Cruz Bay Beach. There are also some outdoor local bars that get a lot of action - specifically thinking of one over by the car barge dock, not sure what it's called. It gets more local traffic, but I've seen tourists there and hear the calypso music is good. Rhumb Lines restaurant has a courtyard bar with rope swing seats (with backs) instead of bar stools - very cool.

I'm sure there are plenty more. Others might know better than I - I'm more of a "drinks poolside at my villa!" kind of woman.

The great thing about Cruz Bay is that everything is right there jammed together - and you can just walk (or stagger) from bar to bar.

All of us parents know how to party harder than our kids. My 39 year is a light weight.

That being said, I can't believe that Bluwater didn't mention The Beach Bar.

There's lots of good bars in STJ -
The Beach Bar down the beach from the ferry dock is a very popular bar.
Wood's of course but be prepared to stand outside as it's very small and lots and lots of people go there.
There's a small bar in Mongoose Junction. Most of the restaurants have their own bars too.
There's also a very nice bar up at the mini-golf place in Pastory Gardens on the hill above town. They have good food up there too and it's a good place to watch the sun set over STT.
Coral Bay also has some bars - Skinny Legs and Island Blues are must stop watering holes for us.
You'll find your favorite I'm sure.

Hmmmmm.....I guess I am not partying hard enough. Gotta do something about that:)

Maybe I am mixing The Brach Bar and Rhumbalaya up. Which one is right on the beach next to the ferry dock - to the right if you're heading away from the dock? I thought that was Rhumbalaya, but maybe it's The Beach Bar - it's always crowded, but I sit on the chairs down on the beach with my drink(s). Now I'm really confused and thinking hard about which bar that is. Help.

Closest to the ferry dock is Rumbalaya. At the other end of Wharfside is the Beach Bar. If you like jazz go there on Sunday at about 4.30ish for some wonderful sounds. Not sure when you're going but I do believe they change schedule in late summer.

Zozo's sunset bar is one of the most beautiful bars I've ever been in...

In addition to those already mentioned, the Quiet Mon Pub is also good place to go, especially when the Woody's crowd has spilled into the street.

I have a question, out of all of the above mentioned bars, which ones have live island music? We love to listen to Reggea or Calypso or Steel Drums when we are in the islands. That was one thing we loved about Jamaica was the island music at the resort. We are hoping when we go to St John we can enjoy it as well.
