Hi Everyone! This board is great! So happy I found it. Looking for advice on a rental for October. This will be our first trip to St. John and I think we would like to be close to the north beaches. There are so many villa companies! Would like something moderately priced, just need accomodations for two. Something clean, with a deck and of course a great view! Hot tub or a pool would be nice.

Hey Lopeka. We rented a villa over past Coral Bay for our last trip. It's call "Siempre Azul". Beautiful one bedroom place right on Friis Bay with a hot tub! Here the web site to check it out

Thanks for the reply. It looks great, but is reserved. I willbook mark it for next time. We decided to go to St. John kind of last minute so I think my choices are going to be limited. I can't believe I can get such a nice place for less than the price of Caneel or the Westin!

I think the popular real estate (location, location, location) expression applies here, too. My philosophy is that all I'm going to do in my accomodation is sleep there, so I'm not into luxurious. I'm also not into the typical touristy "glitz" surrounded by a cast of thousands. I'm staying at Estate Concordia..yes, out of the way, but that's just fine by me. Price? $95 per day. And they have a GREAT view and a pool for an early-morning dip before everyone else wakes up!

We recently stayed at Perelandra in Cruz Bay, and we loved it. It's in Cruz Bay, has a nice deck, great view and a pool. Two bedrooms - one upstairs, one downstairs.

Check out www.caribbeanvilla.com We stayed in one of their villas for our honeymoon and are returning this fall for our 5-th year Anniversary!

Have booked thru them 3 times (Once in Lavendar Hill Condos & twice in Oleander Villa). Go to "Last Minute Travel" for some deals too! If you call the reservation # they are very friendly and will help you choose too...if you want privacy, etc. Absolutely rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle (Caribbean Villas can do it for you). Keep in mind St. John is so small that everything is just a short (and fun) drive away!

cg -

Where was Perelandra located in relation to Cruz Bay. That had been our fist choice for our vacation we took this summer, but it was booked. So we ended up in a villa in Coral Bay - which was great, but we wondered where Perelandra was located.

Thanks,
LMarie

We just returned from a week in STJ and stayed at Temptress through Destination St. John. It is in chocolate hole, has a great view, a/c throughout, and a small dip pool. We really enjoyed it and would stay there again.

I would contact some of the 'larger' operators and tell them your dates/needs. They can advise what is available. Also remember that you are traveling during the 'vacation' period for STJ and some of the restaurants will have reduced hours or even be closed. Not a major problem, but something to work with when scheduling your day.

Another one that gets good reviews is Miles Away Villa also managed by Destination St John. We have not stayed there, but have heard good things about it. Do a search on the internet. Be careful though, some really pretty villas have no AC. Read the descriptions of the villas to see if AC is mentioned. In some spots people say it isn't needed, but I would rather have it available than sleep in a hot bedroom.

If you're headed out of Cruz Bay toward the Westin, when you come nearly to the top of the big hill, you turn left to get to Perelandra. So it looks out over downtown Cruz Bay. If you have any more questions, just post them. Also, I remember when I looked at Perelandra on the web site, I figured it must have a lame kitchen because they didn't show it. Turns out the kitchen was fine, it had everything we needed and new appliances.
