Hi! I was wondering if anyone’s been to Anegada? I am planning a vacation at the end of May and would like to check out Anegada. Originally I was planning on spending my 8 nights between St. John and Virgin Gorda. Can anyone make any recommendations on Anegada? Places to stay? Is it worth going and staying the whole time on Anegada? I’ve been to JVD and loved it.
Thank you!

You'll probably get a lot more information if you go to the TripAdvisor forum for the BVI. As you probably know, it's virtually impossible to do a day trip from the USVI to Anegada unless you charter a private flight so, because of that, I think you'll get much more feedback from a BVI forum. Good luck wit the planning!

You can day trip from Gorda to Anegada. It's long but totally worth while day trip--great idea! Why not spend all 8 days on Gorda? So much to see and do. Have fun.

Hi AnnNYC,

You can daytrip to Anegada from VG. Check with the schedule above because the ferry runs only a few days a week.
If you are snorkeling or looking for miles and miles of deserted beach all to yourself then you really have to experience it.

The island itself is an all corrals island and surrounded by corral reefs therefore the superb snorkeling. There are 2 beaches: Loblolly and Cow Wreck. It could be windy at times and the water (especially at Loblolly), sometimes, has a current that runs along the shore. When snorkeling or diving, you would just let yourself drift until you cut back to shore then walk back, because you don't wanna swim back against this current.

Loblolly has a restaurant/bar that has undependable hours. The wind swept beach has no trees, just sand as far as you can see. The snorkeling there is the best.

Cow Wreck is a short drive from the dock, but finding it is a trip all in itself. You drive on dirt roads thru a desert type of landscape and watch for directions posted on piles of cow skulls. After getting lost a few times, you will end up at a picturesque beach with lots of coconut trees and a
small restaurant/bar with shower. You can use their lounge chairs on the beach. I have never seen so many conch in this water.

You will need to rent a car. They meet you at the dock, you sign the paperwork and pay them a fix amount. You will just leave the car at the dock when you leave.

Hope this helps.

There are miles of beaches - not just the two mentioned above although they are popular and have food and drink - a few places to stay - Anegada Reef Hotel and Neptunes Treasure are both in the main anchorage and excellent laid back accomodations - it it easy to get a ferry from Virgin Gorda and stay for a night or two which would give you some time to explore -- Traveltalkonline is a popular forum with quite a bit of Anegada discussion threads.
It is one of my favorite places in the VI for quiet beach relaxation.

We were just there in Feb. We chartered a private boat for a day trip out of Jost. It is a breathtaking gorgeous island. Out at the Big Bamboo, Obrey the owner has built some beautiful villas located almost right on the beach, there are 2 bedrooms and one bedrooms and the price was pretty reasonable if I remember. You could email them at [email protected] or [email protected] or call them at (284) 499-1680 and get further info. Our plan for next year is stay 2 or 3 days on Anegada as it is so layed back, not touristy at all and the beaches are amazing.

I would suggest going to http://bvipirate.com/, it is probably the best site for Anegada info. I personally love the Island, Neptunes treasure is a;ways our favorite meal of the trip. Getting around can be a challenge, last time rented a small pick up truck, with no shocks. Bone fishing is great.
