It's official! It's now 12:04 pm est on 6/7 - so that means I don't have to count today, since it's 1/2 over 🙂 We now have only 30 days to go to get to heaven on earth (STJ)

We booked this trip way-y-y-y-y back in Jan. & I tried not to think about it too much. But now it's all I'm thinking about!!!

Lisa, have a wonderful time! I'm so happy I booked back in Jan. I just checked airfares for the heck of it & what I paid $495 for is now $1200!!! Glad I can spend all that extra $$ when I'm there & not on just getting there 🙂

I paid too much for my airfair - $685.00 - but my husbands ticket was free - we used reward points from a credit card. I guess when you rationalize it $685.00 roundtrip from New Orleans to St.Thomas isn't that bad.

Lisa, 3 days... you must be going nuts! Geri, I will definitely post a trip report when we get back. We're there for 10 days, so it will be a long one! I'm bringing a notebook to jot things down for this message board. Everyone is so friendly and helpful here.

22 days for me and the bunch coming with me! It's all we talk about it everytime we see each other.

Roundtrips from Houston booked in February cost $624 each. Well worth every penny. 🙂

Ohmygosh - how the heck are you doing down there in New Orleans? I've recently seen a few shows on Discovery/History channels - looks like there is still major major work to be done. You guys surely need this vacation!

Hey, I'd have paid the $685 too if one of us got to go for free. There are 3 of us, me, hubby & son - so I'm pretty happy about $495 each right now!

Btw, we're from New Jersey.

36 days to go here (well, 35 1/2 really, but who's counting?)
We booked last October and it feels like absolutely forever ago!
It's getting to the point that it's all I think about... Can't wait!!!

Can't wait to get away from New Orleans. My husband is a police officer and had to stay here during Katrina - very stressful. My kids and I had to live in Baton Rouge - an hour away - for two months after the storm because of damage to our home and my place of employment. While our home made it through the storm with little damage - lost our fence, needed a new roof, broken windows and little water damage - there are so many that lost everything. I am so thankful for what I have and appreciate things so much more than I did before.

I work for a mechanical contractor and we have been so busy since the storm.

If anyone has a chance to come down here and visit please do so. The city could definitly use the tourist dollars. What you see and hear on tv is very misleading. The French Quarter and some of the Garden District made it through the storm with little damage yet if you go beyond those areas there are many sections of the city that are still like ghost towns. There is so much work to be done and so few people to do it. The Army Corp of Engineers has done little to reassure the people in this area that there will be any safety from any future storms that we may face.

Lisa C - Glad to hear you made it through Katrina relatively unscathed. I'm sure the stress of it all has to be hell either way. You truly deserve a peaceful week on island time. Have a wonderful, relaxing trip!
