Hi! I looked on this site many times before deciding on a villa to stay at in St. John. We only took about a million pictures on our wonderful vacation. (Sorry there are so many...) I just thought I would share our pics if anyone was interested in seeing more pictures of the villa (rented from Destination St. John) and the beautiful island, too. It was definitely the best vacation we have ever been on. If you have any questions about the villa, just let me know.

Here is the link... http://picasaweb.google.com/donnarx/StJohn0ct28Nov42007

cj, i just did a post on your gifft hill inquiry and mentioned ambiance (and a few others) as an alternative to gifft hill. ambiance is inside the 1st hard left on upper rockridge after it truns to one lane. across street is la palpa then the others i mentioned. would love to stay there but will go with max one more couple and again won't spring fro the extra cost. if you go to the bongo guys "on st john" board they did a recent jeep cam of upper rockridge and i think they pointe out ambiance to left.

go to http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=18.347577&lon=-64.779634&z=16.2&r=0&src=msl and enter coord 18 19 24.4N 64 46 45.6W and you should get an x on top of ambiance's blue roof. she's close to bongo b but on ridge and higher thus the superior views. rockrd gets mighty step in that area by the time you are at treas ridge (brighter blue roof in next sharp right turn) you have views completely over top of maria bluff. to pillsbury sound.

good luck.

ps, went back and looked at ambiance and realized she and others on rockridge are looking right down on chocolate hole beginning on east (beach end). well all that pretty greeny between the salt pond and choc hole bay is now a massage denuded construction site of a large developement (maybe "pond Bay"?). had to enjoy the dirt pile for a week in dec while over on upper tamarind in sundance. pb

Papabou,

I checked out this site. I am not much a map person, so will let my husband look at this -- he is a pro at maps. I tried to find Cloud 9, Plumeria, etc. and could not figure it out. I saw an area that I thought was the right place. I will tell you that we met the owners of Plumeria when were there a couple of years ago and the villa that is down from Cloud 9 -- not sure if you pass Cloud 9 or take a very long drive before this that goes a little further out on the ridge -- the Plumeria owners were building this new villa that will be their residence. We actually drove down and walked out to the villa while it was under construction -- the views were going to be incredible. I have no idea if they will rent this villa in the future. I am going to look at those other villas that you pointed our on Rockbridge.

Thanks.

cj,

been out of town & this is my first chance to follow up. go to flashearth at site i posted above and enter cord 18 19 47.7N 64 46 31.3W and you should get a + on top of plumera. palm to left and c9 just above palm, looks like view would be between but plumera's deck faces more toward palm. if you go down drive below plumera, 1st left is common drive to palm and c9; stay on street & next villa to left is seawatch on a slight kholl; go on down hill to left is a brand very villa that is quite nice and keep going down hill there's one more that was about finished in jan 07. don't know any of the other names.

what did you think of the pics of the rockridge villas? actual better than pics. views are broader there not just as "endless" as gifft hill.

bnsilly, the weather was awesome. It had rained for several days prior to our arrival, and it actually was raining when we arrived, but we woke up to beautiful weather and it stayed that way the rest of our time there. It turned out perfect for our trip.

CJ-I am pretty terrible with directions, but the villa did overlook Chocolate Hole. To get there you take a left up the hill past the Westin. I do believe that it is right in front of La Papaya (which is higher up).

Hope that helps...can't wait to go back to St. John.
