I have talked to Amalie about renting a Jeep Wrangler 2 Door in November from them on St Thomas. They tell me they will pickup at the airport even after 5:00 pm and that you can the car to St John. They also say the cars are in very good shape. Has anyone rented from them? If so would you disagree with any of the above or would you have anything else to say about them.

I personally know the owners of Amalie Car rental. Their cars are brand new. Mr. Constantine the owner takes extremely good care of the cars and replaces them every year or two. I know the jeeps are 2007 and may have some 2008 models. Every car is detailed to perfection when you pick them up. I mean spotless. Their prices may be slightly higher than other rental agencies but their service is above and beyond!! They will be standing there as soon as you get off your flight and your car will be ready to go!! Highly recommended

We rented a new (2008 I think) Jeep Patriot from Amalie in March. Their service was great. They were at airport when we arrived and we had our car within a few minutes - long before we had our luggage!! The car was very clean - spotless. They met us at the airport when we departed and again it was very quick and easy. Would definitely rent from Amalie again.

My all time favorite car rental company to work with! They are always there upon your arrival, clean, spotless vehicles and do not allow smoking in them as well. KUDOS! You can not go wrong!

Do you have the link or phone number? I have rented from Budget for next month, but I keep reading bad things on here and want to explore another option. Thanks

We're toying with that company as well. Is it that difficult to drive to Red Hook, to the car barge? It always seems a bit harrowing in the taxis.

It's a nice ride to Red Hook. The taxis make it harrowing by rushing over there so they can rush back and wait 2 hours for a fare!
Amalie is great!

Amalie, hands down, is the best car rental agency I've ever dealt with. My wife and I arrived an hour EARLY into Cyril King Airport, and they were there, at the curb, with our vehicle waiting for us. They checked the flight schedules and noted that we would be in early. Similarly we arrived for our departure 20 minutes earlier than we planned, and they were there waiting. They have great, well-kept vehicles. We stayed on St. John the whole week, and were very happy that we rented from Amalie on St. Thomas--especially after some of the horror stories we've heard about the rental agencies on St. John. We will absolutely rent from them again when we go back.

There will be 6 adults on our next trip. Will it be cheaper for us to rent 2 vehicles vs 1 large one? The only bummer part is when you are driving places you will always have to take 2 vehicles.

We just got back from St John and rented a jeep from Amalie. Nicest people you will ever meet. Met us at the airport as soon as we arrived. Jeep was in excellent condition. One of the few places that will let you take it to St. John. Met us at the airport ahead of us and were waiting when we departed. Would recommend them highly!

Are you staying on STT or STJ? You can easily get by with such as a Ford Explorer on STT which can easily accommodate six but if you're staying on STJ and renting on STT, that option probably won't even be available to you.

I am thinking on using Amalie this year. I used Dependable last year, but was very disappointed with our Jeep Wrangler - mainly with the mosquitoes in the car because there was no back window. Plus, the first Jeep they gave us was unsafe (bald tires). Amalie seems to be a bit more expensive - do they really charge 5% to pick-up and drop-off at STT?

Discount seems to have the best prices on STT, but could not find one person who recommends them - why is that?

We rented from Amalie in November (2 familes, 2 Jeeps) for our stay in STJ. The Jeeps were spotless and extremely low miles. Dealing with the owners at the Airport was such a treat. They were so friendly. I found their prices a little lower than what I had originally booked, plus we were able to negotiate a deal when I spoke to them about booking 2 Jeeps. I loved taking the Jeep on the car barge and we will definitely use no other company when we return!

Amalie rent a lot of their vehicles to those staying on STJ and do have cars to accommodate 6 people as well! They are the best!
