I have a mancrush on Alton Brown - so sue me.

It seems his new show, Feasting On Waves, is about the food and culture of the islands, mon. And Alton has left a "buried treasure" for anyone who can find it.

The EXACT co-ordinates are, 18,26,214 north by 64,42,519 west. That puts it in Little Jost Van Dyke. The treasure is a spoon with Alton's face on it. It is under a rock at those co-ordinates.

Please go find it, and take a picture of you with it. Send the picture to Alton!

There's a Little Hans Lollick but I wasn't aware that there was a Little Jost Van Dyke. Guess we'll leave it to you to discover. Cheers!

According to Google Earth, there is a Little Jost Van Dyke - directy east of Big Old Regular Jost Van Dyke.

If anyone takes the challenge, and doesn't want to keep the spoon, you can leave it for me at Connections. Tell her I'll pick it up on the 21st 😉

I love Alton Brown!!! I can't wait for the new show. Do you know when it is scheduled to start? Did I miss the first show? I guess we missed Alton. Wouldn't that have been cool; to run in to him at some little restaurant in the islands! I will have to do some research on the show. How cool he left buried treasure....... I hope someone picks it up for you Ed. Have fun on your trip I'm only 5 days behind you!!!

I found it, thanks Ed! I watched the clips. It looks like fun. From what I could gather he visited the BVI but I didn't see any mention of the USVI. I am looking forward to watching the 8pm episode filmed on ST Kitt's.
You only have 12 more days....Can you hear the waves?

On Sunday my wife and I had some authentic Carib food sitting in the Georgia heat on the restaurant patio in the shade. She had a Corona Light. I had a Red Stripe. We're practicing 🙂

Don't you love practicing! We'll be down in a few days. Here I am stuck in the midwest on a cold and rainy day, it's going to dip into the 30's tonight, but what are we doing tonight? Playing Reggea music, and cooking out on the grill, of course we won't be hanging out on the back porch for long, but when you are in the mood for the islands, it's fun to start the adventure early.

Notahippie,

Thanks for the info on Alton Brown, can you believe I never heard of him. I'll have to check out his program.

Molly

That's funny! I must not be very good, because I have to practice all year. 😎

We found the spoon. We've been trying to get this video to Alton but have not had a response. Any Ideas how to succeed?

Best way of getting his attention would be by not only sending the video, but add the chemical components of a baked potato. He likes that kind of stuff.

Great video Captain John! We have some connections with Alton, I'll see what we can do. Not sure if you remember us but you took us out for an awesome boat trip in June (the Wolf family).
Cheers!

Sherri - It was a real fun series (I think 7 episodes) that started on St Kitts and sailed to different islands ending up at Seddys on JVD.
You should have seen Seddy cooking his Grandmothers soup.
And when it was all said in done in Alton Brown's closing he said that it was one the 5 best things he had ever put in his mouth.
I think that is some pretty high praise come from a professional chef.

We were in tears watching Seddy with Alton. That was a great episode and it was fun to see so many familiar faces. Imagine that, no Soggy Dollar Bar in a White Bay video.

Cheers, RickG

I was actually at Seddy's when Alton and his crew came in to tape the episode. I was at The Soggy Dollar at the time and got wind of Alton's appearance there and sprinted down the beach to see him. He let my friend take a picture of me with him. Very cool.

Maybe the face didn't wash away. Maybe someone else found the winning spoon and replaced it with a fake.
