My husband and I along with about 4 other couples plan to vacation in the Virgin Island in early September. In the past we have traveled to Mexico and used Apple Vacation and Vacation Express for All Inclusive deals whcich we enjoyed. We are planing to go to the VI and really don't know much about which island would suit us best. We like to scuba dive, fish, eat, drink and party. We are in our forties. Any suggestions as to which island may suit us and if anyone has expereienced any of the All Inclusive resorts please enlighten us.......Thanks

There are no all-inclusives on St.Croix.

I don't know of any all-inclusive on STT, I'll leave that for a local, but if you like an active island for night life, probably STT would best suit your group.

Kerri,

The Marriott Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Beach Resort has an all-inclusive option, airfare and ground transportation not included. Rates are "from" $358 per couple per night in the off-season and include:

Room, tax, service charges and gratuities
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Premium brand liquor, local beer, wine by the glass, and non-alcoholic drinks
Non-motorized hotel sponsored water sports activities
Use of health club and tennis courts

In my own opinion, I would look through this site a bit, read through some of the discussions. I think you will find that you might not want to be 'stuck' on a resort for every meal, etc. because there are so many areas to explore on the islands. The Wyndham has AI, but we very much like to beach hop, so we don't go with the All Inclusive plan they offer anyway.

Boy, do I agree with Lili 100%! I've stayed at the Marriott and it's a wonderful property. But - to feel the need to stay there for all meals? - YUK! While it is a great place to stay, I would never stay there for the duration of my trip. There is so much to the islands to explore, and so many wonderful restaurants to experience. Taxis are everywhere, so if drinking is part of your fun experience, NO PROBLEM! I can just about guarantee that you'll have more fun and spend less money by arranging your trip without an all-inclusive experience. We just stayed there the first week of February. Look up my screen name "VI LOVER" on the search tool and you'll find my trip report as well as a link to pictures.

That having been said, the Marriott is a wonderful property and if you choose to do all-inclusive, it's a great choice. We've enjoyed our stay each time (only eating breakfast there - then leaving the property to explore the rest of the day!).

As Lili said, explore this site and use the search tool. If you'd like more help establishing a great schedule for you and your friends, private email me and I'd be happy to help!

Good Luch - Have Fun!!!

I'm going in June to the Wyndham Sugar Bay and we have the all inclusive package. However we will see if it is worth the money.

The Wyndham Sugar Bay, Marriott and Bolongo Bay on STT have A.I. plans. For someone on (somewhat) of a budget and who likes to drink - - this plan is the best! We have done the Wyndham three times and enjoyed it immensely. You can still grab a ferry (or charter) for day trips and eat away from the resort for a couple dinners - - and still feel like you are getting your money's worth. But dinners, I think, are fairly expensive on St. Thomas, and particurly St. John. You can find places like Woody's, Green House, Skinny Legs, etc that aren't so pricey. But if you have a "party group" who drinks more than 4-6 drinks in the course of the day - - I find the AI is the way to go! The Wyndham beach is OK, but again, you can drive to other beaches like Magen's, Coki, etc for snorkeling after lunch and before dinner. THe Wyndham has a great breakfast, too - - custom omelettes, eggs benedict, hash, great selection of fruit.

I'll bet for the money you pay for an all-inclusive, you could get a very nice villa for about half the money.

We have done this several times with 2, 4 and now 5 couples. When you split the cost of groceries, rental car and the villa, it averages out to about $1200.00 per couple.

We always take breakfast food, coffee, sugar, creamer and other small items with us. We go to the grocery to buy food for lunches and pack a soft sided cooler. We usually eat most dinners out.

It really isn't a hassle at all.

It doesn't matter if your staying at a villa or all-inclusive, you will definately want to rent a car a explore all the island.

Best of wishes where ever you go!

Denise

We just returned on 4/5/06/. We stayed at Bolongo Bay and would not return. The Staff was friendly but the resort was run down and dirty. the highlight of our first day as being joined in the pool by a rat! The grounds were over run with rats. The place should be closed!

Kathy: I am sorry you had a bad time. Rats are a part of the tropics. And as it has been very dry recently, a pool would be very inviting to them.
