Good Morning Everyone,

Does anyone know what the walking distance (in the San Juan PR. Airport) between the USAIR Arrival gates and the American Eagle deprture gates.

With a slight walking disability it would be real nice to know just how far I'll have to "hump it" from USAIR to my connecting American Eagle flight to STX.

Thanks
Ernie

I cannot remember these things (distances from here to there), but I did find this information on the web site of the World Airport Guide http://www.worldairportguide.com/airports/sju/sju.asp

DISABLED FACILITIES
These include lifts, a ramp, people movers, TDD telephones, disabled toilets and disabled parking spaces. Assistance is available to disabled travellers; travellers should contact the Travelers Aid desk on the first level of Terminal D. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. Wheelchair Getaways Rent A Car (tel: 726 4023) has vehicles for disabled drivers.

There was a lot of construction going on when I was there in March. I too have a problem walking and the trek from American to Cape Air nearly did me in!!

US Airways is a bit of a walk to American Eagle. Maybe a 15 minute walk. It will probably be a bit of a nuisance if you have a walking disability, and even more if you have a lot of stuff with you. The same applies to the distance from JetBlue to American.

It is a hike if your not in good shape. We are seniors but quite active and first trip there almost did me in getting from american to american eagle. Second yr. we requested wheel chairs with AA and they met us at gate & took us to american eagle. That was a 15 min. walk thru a lot of coridors and people. Good Luck

As others have said, it's a bit of a hike, especially if you have a short layover. Call your airline, explain that you have a walking disability and ask for them to arrange in-terminal transportation for you - it's free. I'm sure you've seen those electric trams that I'm talking about. They'll meet you at your arrival gate.

This was about an 8 minute walk. We did it a couple years ago was not too bad but I would recommend paying a guy to move the bags. I think we had about 6 or 7 bags and the guy did it for $10. Definitely worth it though especially since we have a few little ones.

Hope this helps

I just remembered something. To the guy who asked about the distance from JetBlue to American: if you are checking bags, you will have to reclaim the bags in San Juan and re-check them with American, because JetBlue does not have a baggage agreement with American. I had to do this when I flew Spirit to San Juan and American Eagle from San Juan to St. Croix. Discount airlines are on a different ticketing system than major airlines, so you will have to re-check your bags.

Yea, I assummed that I would have to do this. How difficult is that to do at San Juan? We have 2 1/2 hours so there should be plenty of time. Any help may avoid some confussion.

Thanks,

Rod

How long a walk was it from AA to Cape Air? We have one coming up in reverse at SJU airport (Cape Air to AA) on our way from Vieques to St John

Thanks,
AJ
