American Airlines just changed my flight arrival from 8:55 to 9:42 pm. What are my options for a meal that late at night? We will have a car for the night/day and will stay at EB that night before boarding the ferry to STJ the next day. I could wait until morning, but my kids will be whining for sure. Any suggestions?
sorry....what is EB?
Oh sorry, Emerald Beach Resort right by the airport.
Here is a link with some dining options...or sorry to say, lack of options. Looks as though most establishments close around 10pm in the Sub Base/Contact area (Airport). However Domino's pizza is open until 11pm on Sat (not sure what day of the week you will be flying in). Pizza works in a pinch for the kids...maybe. Other than that you might contact EB for their late night recommendation. I would think that you won't get to the room until 10:30....limits you options, unless you eat before you go to the hotel.
Outside your area their might be more options.

Then under "Visitor Center" click Dining (lower left)
Then at the bottom, middle click ST Rest Guide
Gives a list of rest, location, ph #, hours
Sorry couldn't get a direct link to work....I'm internet challenged.

chrisn,
The Emerald Beach has a couple of dining options but I think their restaurants close at ten like most others. Perhaps if you call them and ask, their kitchen may be able to prepare something simple, like sandwiches, and set them aside for your family until you arrive.
Shipwreck Tavern serves food really really late. It may not be the best option for you especially with kids depending on their ages, but you can definitely get fed there. It's about a 15 minute drive from the airport. It's across from Havensight where the cruiseships dock.
Betsy's Bar (also not the best option if your kids are little) in Frenchtown which is about 5 minutes from the airport has a late night menu.
Sorry I couldn't think of anything more family oriented, but if you're hungry and like soaking up local flavor, then one of these places may work for you.
What day are you ariving? I asked because if it is on a Saturday I have a suggestion. You can drive to the "Holiday Inn" on the waterfront. Just accross the highway is a Texas Barbecue trailer, great food. It may require some nerve on your driving skills but it should not be too busy that time of night. The desk clerk or a board contributor may be able to tell you what time they close and give you fresher directions. You can drive the whole family there and be back at EBR in about 25 minutes.
Having stayed at the Emerald Beach Resort, I would vote for the "call EBR and see if they can help you out," option. I'll be honest, the service is not quite what you'd expect from a mainland hotel, but I'm certain that if you ask politely they'll be more than happy to help you out.
The other option that I've used myself is to pack a lunch basket and bring it as carry on luggage. You could bring sandwich makings or canned goods if you have a microwave.
Personally, I wouldn't drive around St. Thomas at night on the first night that I arrive.

Just checked...Hook,Line, and Sinker in Frenchtown is open till 11:pm, maybe hop in a taxi, grab sandwiches, back to the room.
Just a thought.
Tickles Dock side is open pretty late or try the Greenhouse
I agree with JFP -- especially considering that you will have children with you.
Charlotte Amalie (or STT in general) isn't the easiest place for a "newbie" to find their way around at night, and just like any big city, it isn't the best idea to be wandering around at night blindly.
My husband and I frequently take the last flight out of Miami to STT (American flight 795, late nearly 95% of the time according to the government's bureau of travel statistics, but it suits our purposes).
We live on STT now, but when we didn't, we would simply have our dinner at the Miami airport (Sbarro is actually pretty good IMHO, if you are passing through Miami). We would also pack some grocery items for later in case we needed a late night snack at our hotel room -- just a thought :).
Pack sandwiches and feed them on the plane.
Tickles Dockside Pub would be my choice for ease of getting to, parking, and kid friendly. Geenhouse will be too rowdy at that point, and driving into downtown for the first time at night is hairy. Although Hook Line n Sinker is good too, but a bit further away.
So HLS and TDP are my pics since we are on an acronym kick.
Emerald beach will most llikely make something up for you if you call them in advance. I would not be driving around at night in a unfamiliar place. Especialy STT. Second choice would be Tickles. Close by and good menu. We have done both things on previous trips and have stayed at EB for several years for 3 wks at a time. Sandwiches & chips in a cooler will make it a lot easier with children. Good Luck , ENJOY
Room With a View at Bluebeard's serves late night. You can also stop in at Gottlieb's Quickway Esso Station right on the road from the airport. They have snack foods like pizza into the wee hours.
