We secured our villa (Island Horizons) for next winter's February 7 - 15 trip to STT/STJ and I've been watching airfares like a hawk recently. We're in Lexington Kentucky and fares have been running around $760. Tonight, I checked US Airways from Cincinnati (an hour drive north) and - ready for this??? - $420 per person!!!!! I booked 4 tickets tonight and saved $680 per couple!!!
If you're looking for a great deal next winter and can get out of Cincy - book it FAST!
VI LOVER
Hi neighbor! Congratulations! Don't see fares around here that low too often. It's almost as good as winning the lottery. 😎

..... and just as quickly as it appeared - it's now GONE! Cheapest flight this morning is $716. I guess it does pay to stay-up and check rates every day!

You're right. We can't find it either. I'm going to send you a pm.
Got it and just responded. I was traveling from Grand Rapid, Michigan back home today and had no internet access.
Good Luck!

a cheaper flight out of cincy? get out of here,,,
Congrats to you! I've NEVER been able to find a cheap flight out of Cincinnati.
Of course, I thought I got a great deal for $400/rt out of Atlanta (It was $900 for the same flight out of Nashville), and then the flight that I had really wanted dropped to $300 after I bought. Oh well, you can't win them all!
There's always that risk, but you know all about the "bird in the hand...." philosophy. That's ME. I'm still thrilled and really cannot imagine getting a lower price from this region. I historically cash-in Delta miles, but always check out the airfare before doing so (I try to only cash them in when airfare is over $500 to get the most value out of them) and have not seen fares under $500 in several years.
We lived in the Atlanta area (Newnan) for almost 4 years and really loved it. Besides being a great city/region, direct flights is the ONLY way to go!
VI Lover, what do you use to track flights?
I generally start with Expedia, but lately have been using Kayak more and more. You can also set up notifications with Travelocity where you can set a base ticket price and they'll notify you if your preferred routing goes below that amount - that's pretty neat.
No real "system" - I just spend a few seconds at different sites. I travel pretty extensively for work, so I'm always looking for lowest airfare deals. Getting my personal tickets falls right into my work pattern!
