Probably Spirit Airlines will be the cheapest in most cases.

Do also keep your eye out for American Airline sales. We booked $79 round trip ($120 per person after including fees/taxes) recently.

We used it October 30 to November 7th. It was one of those "short-term specials" with limited number of seats, and was only good mid-week. Can't guarantee they'll do it again, but you never know. Doesn't hurt to keep an eye out.

It has been a very long time but we have gotten those "less than $100" fares from USAir as well. I haven't seen any real bargins lately except for Spirit Air. Unfortunately they don't fly from our area.

If you are looking to save money - try Weds to Weds vice a weekend day to a weekend day
I got round trip for $279 from DC to STT in February

Kayak.com also has a chart that shows trends
Here is Miami to STT for tickets the last week of January as an example

Would that there were an inexpensive way to get OFF island return trip deals! I'm pretty much a stay-at-home these days but I know from friends how much more difficult it is to find reasonable round-trip airfare deals out of here...

Try Continental.........mid week (Sat night stay required) for January & first half of February.....STT to/from Newark, NJ (non-stop) is only $220. plus tax/fees. Other like specials may also be available.

Overall I think American is the way to go. They have more direct flights to STX from Miami than any of the other major airlines.
