Why is airfare so expensive? Any advice on cheap tickests to/from STJ? I am traveling in Spetmeber but have not purchased the airfare yet. Still searching for the lowest prices available.

Thanks

Air fare can be crazy. I check multiple times a day when I'm ready to book, and the fares can go up and down by hundreds of dollars in a few hours. Yikes! My advice is check multiple times a day. Last year I checked in the morning it was like over $700.00 per ticket. Checked in the afternoon, and got them for $393!! (with my Travelocity points I got $500 off, and the tickets came to about $60 each) so it does pay to check often. I usually get a non-stop from Boston to STT on a Sunday. Love the non-stops. Takes 4 hours to get there. Sun and Fun in a short time. Good luck with your flights.

We are coming in March. One family is coming from the Baltimore area and one from Miami area. Is it too late to get a good rate on flights?

no, it isn't too late. It is a fallacy that fares increase as you get closer. I've gotten steals the week before a trip. I'm going in Feb and just bought my ticket 2 days ago, and got a decent deal.

Ganina,

Which ever airline is cheapest that year, We've flown on AA, Delta, United... the past couple of years we booked with United but flew on USAir nat a bad flight. So far this year flights are around $410-425 r/t not bad fron Chicago...but I'm holding out to see if prices drop below $400. If you have time to wait and shop, do so, if not, jump on current prices.

Yeah I checked on them before this am and they are $304 round trip. Not bad. The $79 trip ends in Feb so I may just wait until they announce March sales. Thanks everyone for the advice. Does anyone know about charter fishing on St Thomas? My poor husband is going with my family and I know he will need a break. Can you send just one person out? Any idea of the cost?
