My wife and I are thinking of eating at the Agave next month when we visit. Two years ago we had cocktails at sunset and it was beautiful. How is the food and what would you recommend? Thank you all for any Info.

One ongoing problem with the Agave over the years has been the turnover of chefs. Not that this isn't a problem in other establishments but it seems to be more of an issue at Agave and thus you get rave reviews for a few months and then some really bad reviews when a new chef doesn't work out for whatever reason. Hopefully by the time you get here there will be some recent reviews and they'll be good ones so you can go and enjoy a lovely dinner!

In all honesty, I have never gotten a bad report! Many of our guests write good things in our guest books! Enjoy!

We ate there in April and weren't very impressed. I had the caribbean lobster and I forget what my wife had but neither of us were impressed. The service was good, the manager was real nice and we enjoyed talking to him but we had hoped for a more impressive meal. Nothing bad about it...just nothing great the night we were there.

Agave has been one of our favorites, but this April several of our friends went there at different times and ALL had terrible meals. One family actually gave us a $100 gift certificate that the manager gave them because they will never go back.

The manager explained that they had changed chefs, and knew they had a problem.. Unfortunately, that has been the history at Agave, so I think I will avoid it for awhile.

My husband and I ate there on June 8 and the food was superb. It was his birthday dinner so I was hoping for an experience he would remember. The wait staff was very attentive but not hovering. I had the shrimp pomodoro and Perry had the fresh catch of the day and beef tenderloin. The coconut shrimp appetizer was juicy and flavorful. For dessert I had the crispy banana crepe and my husband had bread pudding with mango sauce and a candle for his birthday. You can't beat the view and the natural setting.

We ate there Jan 2010 and it was terrific. My wife had crusted lamb which was out of this world! I had Thai curry shrimp that was also excellent.

Hi Bill,

My wife and I have been eating at the Agave Terrace since 2004. I have never had a bad meal there. I usually have the King Crab and my wife enjoys the Felete Mignon. We usually stay at the Bluebeard's Beach Club during the last week in Nov through the 2nd week in Dec each year.

Sorry to hear the chef has been changed, hope the quality gets better before we return this year

I have found it to be the most inconsistent high vs. low restaurant in STT - over the 30 plus years.

Thanks for all the Info. The view at Agave is really special. Maybe we will have a Desmonds Delight at the Bar and play it by Ear if we want to eat their. Desmond was the Bartender at Agave who maid a signature cocktail with rum and Melon Liqueur that was great. 20 days and counting and even though it is our 8th trip, we can't wait.
