Good afternoon.

I have been reading this Board for a while. There is always great information! My husband and I are returning to St. John for our second trip in May. We would like to take a day trip to the BVIs. I have done a search for day trips here but I seemed to still have questions that I would appreciate your input.

I've looked the websites for Stormy Petrel, Bad Kitty, Cruz Bay Watersports and New Horizons. I think I am on sensory overload now. I'd like to see and do as much as possible without "overdoing" it. My main priority is to go to Jost. We would like to snorkel and 3rd on my priority list is to see The Baths.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

The main difference between them is the boat capacity and how/ where the food comes from. Not sure about Cruz Bay, but Stormy has smallest capacity of the others. Stormy also moors in The Baths, so there's more in the water time. The others dock in VG, motor you to Baths, and you walk down a trail to beach. New Horizons may have a better bar selection.

In our experience, these day trips usually come in a couple of flavors: a day sail with a snorkel stop or two before visiting Jost (usually lunch at Foxy's then onto White Bay), or a speedboat day trip (like Bad Kitty) which visits several BVIs (Virgin Gorda for the Baths & Spanishtown, Cooper Island, Jost) but you get less time on shore because you're zipping around to the different locations, If Jost is your priority, then you may want to choose the day sail. We have had several great day sail experiences with the Calypso in Cruz Bay. http://www.calypsovi.com/

If you haven't yet visited the Baths, do try to get there at some point. Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!

Thank you. I think the Jost sail trip is the best choice. We are there for 8 days so maybe one day we can take the ferry to the Baths...again the whole point of going is to relax.....I need to quit planning!

Would you like your trip to Jost with a lot of people or more private?

doesn't really matter. Its just the two of us (husband and wife) so its actually fun to meet others on vacation enjoying the same things we enjoy.
