Are there any car rental place on STJ that will allow you make an advanced reservation for a one day rental? I would hate to get over there and have to take a taxi every where. We want to stay later in the evening on STJ so the car ferry won't help us.

You can always try but I doubt it.

I also doubt it. Depending on when you're going to be there, it may be possible to just walk up and get a vehicle for a day. This is usually possible during slow season, but is often impossible during peak season. And depending upon what your plans are, it's possible to have a pretty good day going around by taxi if it were to come to it.

Thanks for the help. We will be there in June. We are planning to go to STJ on a day when no ships will be in. Maybe that will help.

We will be staying on St. Thomas in June and also want to stay late one night. So we're bringing our jeep over to St. John in the morning, and we plan to park it in a secure parking lot (Slimman's) on St. John overnight for $10. That will allow us to return to St. Thomas later in the evening via the passenger ferry.

The next day we will take the passenger ferry back to St. John, get our jeep, stay the day, and return to St. Thomas on the 7 p.m. car ferry that evening. But, of course, you have to plan to spend 2 back-to-back days on St. John for this to work. We might even decide to do this for 3 back-to-back days on St. John.

KK,

We have the same dilemma, We are staying on STT and our rental car is from Hertz (they do not let you take their vehicles off STT). We looked into renting a car for a day or two on STJ (figured we could leave it parked on STJ overnight) so we could explore, but that's not going to happen, no one has anything available during our stay (late April). we called every single car rental place we could think of. So it appears we'll be at the mercy of a taxi as well.

We are renting a boat one day we are there on STT, so at least well get a chance to explore some of the other beaches on STJ 🙂

You may luck and be able to walk up to a place a rent a car for the day on STJ. We did last April (found 2). Highly recommend Delbert Hill. He's located across the street from the Lime Inn.

Planning a 7 day trip to STJ. Is it possible / worth it to rent a jeep on STT and take a vehicle ferry to STJ on day or arrival and departure?

We came in on a cruise a couple of years ago and were able to rent for just one day. Call early.
