Any suggestions for accomodations. I will be staying 11/21 -11/28. I am traveling with my husband and 4 teenagers ages 15-17. I had planned on staying at secret harbour but cannot get a room there.
Ideally we would like a 2-3 bedroom unit...Thinking about absolute villas, crystal cove, the anchorage, bolongo bay. I've spent hours on the internet getting as much info as possible but its confusing trying to find a nice view, beach, AND stuff in the area for the kids to do on their own if they want. I was there two years ago and stayed at the Wyndham with the all inclusive but that is too overpriced for 6 people......... and also what safety concerns should i have for them being out at night ?
As much info as you can give me would be helpful. My son turns 18 in a few months and already has one foot out the door so I am guessing this may be out last big trip together......Thanks a bunch

Hello Charlene,

Crystal Cove or Sapphire Beach Resort iteself would both be good; nice beach with lots of watersports options if your teens are interested - perhaps they would enjoy parasailing or windsurfing. Bolongo Bay would be good also; not as nice a beach but watersports, fun bar/restaurant.

What do you mean "stuff in the area for the kids to do on their own"? If you mean walking distance to stuff like shopping, attractions, beaches, activities ect. that doesn't really exist as the island's mountainous geography makes walking as a form of transportation difficult. Most resorts have pool(s), tennis courts, beach, the grounds, watersports... so the kids can enjoy themselves with those things on the resort property itself.

What do you have in mind for the nighttime?

Thanks for the suggestions...I think I will be booking at Crystal Cove.
As far as night time goes....Well, I have a 17 year old son who is bringing a friend. Teenagers are not the easiest creatures on earth. He is not going to want to be sitting around witht he old folks (AND I AM ONLY 40) at night. Maybe i will be surprised and we will tire him out during the day but I am a bit concerned about him and his buddy "just going out for awhile". I did explain to him that its not like going to Myrtle Beach or something where their are kids all over the place but I certainly dont want them getting into any trouble. Maybe I am just being overly concerned. But I could use any suggestions. My husband and I went to St. Thomas with another couple 2 years ago for 5 days and had an awesome time. We can't wait to go back. We tried to do everything possible in that amount of time and by evening we were exhausted. We can't wait to go back. My daughter will just love it. I would have to say the best day was renting a boat and a captain for the day. He took us to see so much in a day. We will definetly be doing that again....Any suggestions on your "not to miss" list wouldbe great!!

Hello Charlene,

How about planning a few dinners/nights out together but at places that both the young and the "not so young" can enjoy; places like Shipwreck have pool tables - so you can eat and the 17 year olds can play pool, you could also do Paradise Point Happy Hour on Wednesday evenings - free tram ride for Happy Hour and usually music, food, drinks, nice view. For things they could do on their own and perhaps find people their age or close enough - maybe Bolongo Bay's Iggies; call and see if they have any beach volleyball going on in the evenings; Iggies is a restaurant and bar. Sapphire has live music on Sunday afternoons and a mixed age crowd - its at the beach bar.

Were you able to find a rental agency for the 2 bedroom units at crystal cove? We are planning on going to St. Thomas in march, and we are in need of two bedrooms. I'm not having much luck finding these. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you so much. Hope you have a great time.
