There is a great bed and breakfast in St. Thomas called The Galleon House in Charlotte Amalie on government hill (around the historical sites). It is one block from he water front (stores/ferry/restaurants/taxis) and the market. It's clean and the owners are always on hand. If you are looking for something basic and to just sleep, I suggest it highly. 1 800 524 2052. I had a full size bed, I don't know what else they offer.

good luck

Richard,

Did you look into any of the hotels?? Are you looking for a certain area, price range, are their kids in your group or all adults?

All adults.

We're a party group so we keep late hours. However that's not to say we're roudy. That said, I'd like to stay away from the downtown area given that it's not the safest for people arriving back at their accommodations after midnight.

Price? Secondary to availability.

Hotels? While my two sisters and I grew up in St. Thomas, my older sister maintained residence until about 3 years ago. She worked for Frenchman's Reef, Secret Harbor, and the Westin in St. John (whom she still works for in Florida). She still has contacts at all three places and so far, has been coming up empty for those dates. However she did say that there are usually last minute cancellations that run at about the 10% rate. Wanting to purchase our plane tickets pretty soon, we're not willing to wait or risk the trip on presuming a cancellation will occur that will allow 5 people accommodations at the last minute.

Heck, if we have to we might even look into Tortola.

I should add that we already have a villa booked in St. John for 12/27 - 1/2. We're just trying to add a couple of days to the trip on the front-end.

Richard: You probably know that most places have a 7 day minimum at that time of the year, so you might not be able to pick and choose... if you can find someplace that will give you 2 days! 😉

Or at least a 5 day minimum. With villa/timeshare weeks typically running Sat-Sat, I'm hoping that someone has the Thursday/Friday open.

So far, the Thursay (Christmas Day) doesn't seem to be the problem. Both the Westin and Secret Harbor have that day open. It's the Friday that is presenting problems.

I have a lead on two 1 bedrooms at Sapphire. I'm keeping my fingers crossed while I wait to hear back from the owner.
