Wanting to visit both of these beaches during my upcoming vacation. How might I best access each? How long or difficult will the hikes in be? If I want to walk both beaches on the same trip, which end should I enter? Thanks.
Hi Slick
I going to help you the best that can, please keep in mind that I do not live on St. Croix but while on vacation I have checked out the access to Jacks and Issacs - it's going to be a hike so be prepared. Heading east on route 82 approaching Point Udall you can go left to Point Udall and at the top of the road just before you get to the turn around there will be a dirt path that snakes it's way down to Issac's Bay. There is enough off street parking for a couple of cars. Another way is when approaching the end of Route 82, insted of turning left, keep going to the right - route 82 turns into route 60 at the entrance to Cramers park - stay on 60 and approximately 3/4 of a mile on the left hand side of the road you'll see a sign for Grapetree Village or Grapetree Estates or something like that (if you get to DIVI Casino you went to far) turn left there (lots of hurricane damage right there)once you turn left off of 60 you can turn right to get to Grapetree Beach or turn left and take that road all the way till it dead ends at someone's villa driveway - just to the left of the entrance to their villa you will see a dirt path that leads down to jack's Bay - There is parking there off road for 4 or 5 cars. We got about 10 minutes into the hike when my wife made us turn around and go to Grapetree beach. I'm pretty sure that you can do both beaches in one visit. Which access is best or easiest - I don't know - sorry. I hope one of the locals reads this and corrects my directions if they are misleading. My mind tells me that this is the way to get there
Good luck and have a ball

Hello Slick & Steve,
I haven't been myself, but this is what a board user had posted a few months ago:
"Yes, Issac and Jack bay are worth seeing. You can park at Cramer's Park, walk east a couple hundred feet, and start up a dirt road on the hill by the telescope. The trails are well marked. You have the option of going to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, where you get an excellent view of much of St. Croix. Another option is to park just before the monument at East Point and go to the southeast beaches, but you can't do the mountain from there."
