Just saw this thread. I am sad for this little, lost seal. I hope he'll either adapt or find his way to more suitable waters. It sure is a long way from where he should be and where his habitual food source is. I hope he can be rescued or at least monitored if he doesn't need immediate rescue. Poor baby....
Those of us headed down soon should program the number mentioned in the article into our cell phones in case we spot the seal. That way, the folks for Coral World can rescue him fast. It sounds like they feel that he would be better off up north.

Could this be the same animal spotted in the BVi in June?
I think there was some speculation on TTOL that the seal couldve been one that was washed into the sea from an aquarium in New Orleans when Katrina hit. If so, it has survived almost a year now.

It appears that the seal in question was rescued in Puerto Rico, it was not doing well. It was not from New Orleans as they did not have that kind of animal.
🙁 Poor little guy, I hope he makes it.
